Hi Mike, I'm at Deering and Sheridan. What kind of VW you got? Couple of Beetle owners on my street, one is a 79 Beetle convertible and the other appears a 60's sedan. Yes I keep an eye out for them, LOL |

Rosslyn and Craig. A few owners within a block or two of me, one a Van, another does quite a bit, he's working on a 58 and a 63 right now.
I have a 77 vert. It looks good from 10 feet. |

Cool, thanks for checking…I've been trying to find copy..but for some reason, my local market sometimes carries Hot VWs and sometimes they don't…I need to just break down and subscribe. |
I'm not much of a Walmart fan, but the local one is the only place around here that carries Hot VW's. But they don't get a lot, so they run out by the middle of the month (the times that I've checked, which isn't a lot). This issue also had an article about HarshWinters VW club here in Chicago, which is why I went to get it. |
I used to have to run up to the local Barnes and Noble book store, til our daughter got him a subscription. _________________ Sue

New York was the first state to require license plates, back in 1901. In those days, you had to make your own. Sears even sold Kits! Massachusetts was the first state to issue them in 1903.

anyone have some suggestions on places to go for engine related advice/work on the west side of the state (GR)? I have had a blown engine I want to tear down and rebuild soon but would like a place I can trust to do good work and be patient with stupid questions from time to time. I'm from Holland but I've traveled to K-zoo to R&N buggy and had good experiences there, but I'm curious about others I haven't found yet.
BTW, I haven't looked into what happened with my motor yet, but I'd like to put a bolt-on big bore kit, and EFI runners and generally beef it up and make it more durable without going overboard. Also would like to build it to be turbo'ed eventually down the line when I can source a beefier Trans (and afford it lol).
thanks for any help. _________________ Brian H.

There is an old timer working for Georges Foreign cars on 39the street between Division and Buchanen in Grand Rapids. He has been building engines for 50 years and does it better than anyone I know and Jos the owner is a great source for realistic support and info.

If you want to tear it down and rebuild it and not ask too many stupid questions you'd better have Tom Wilson first:

Checking in from Southfield, MI.
My year 'round daily driver is this '71 Super; seen here at the end of Grace Rd. off M22 south of Frankfort.
For fun in the sun, I've owned this '74 thing since 1983.
Here we are "in action" on the famous US129 (aka "the dragon") en route to Kubel Treffen East last Summer in Hiawassee, GA.

I could be wrong but if IIRC according to an email I got from Hagerty last month, you can legally drive with your collector or YOM plates the entire month of August. That being said, your insurance provider may not approve it or cover you if you're driving all month long. _________________

I did think it was ironic that they were encouraging it. _________________

Hi I am Martin and I live in Warren. I have a Karmann Ghia up on my body dolly. I was wondering if anyone has a set of standard VW four lug wheels for sale. I want to put them on the car for now until I get a narrowed front end to run some five lug five spokes. _________________ the parts that you buy from me today, will fund my projects tomorrow... |
