|
|
Sigh. Put a new fuel pump on my '73 Thing. Shiny, new, working...
And still my Thing starts right up, then dies from lack of fuel. Vexing.
So, I'm going to pull the tank, check the filter and go from there.
Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated... |

Does the engine run if you keep your foot on the pedal and die when you release it? |

Phhht. Funny Capt. I was a wrestler for years. I don't have to purge, I just don't bother to eat.
As for keeping it running with the pedal: nyet. It's either all on or all off. |

As a quick way to eliminate possible problems due to fuel pump, carburetor, and engine related items, I use a 2.5 gallon plastic gas container with one end of a gas line hose submerged in the container. I disconnect the line from the gas tank to the fuel pump and connect the other end of the hose from the container to the fuel pump. In essence I have bypassed the tank, fuel filter and fuel lines. If the car runs without problems, I have at least narrowed the problem to one of those three items. |
