Looking great!

I have a question. On those Albert mirrors, is the piece that screws into the door always facing forward? Seems kind of opposite of how I thought they'd go on. I have a set I'm saving and just wanted to know if there is a standard way to install them. Very Happy

This is the way though Brent

Sniffed some glue today

Installed the 2 NOS ashtrays in the upper rear door panels

That are NOS rear side trim on top of NOS rear arm rests

Glued in the small pieces behind the rear seat

Put in the shelf cover + rear seat and backing

Gued in the entire carpet - took about 8 hours !

That's a NOS front piece - NOS full set of heater flaps + mechanisms !

Glued in the front + rear trunk pieces

Fitted the NOS front trunk liner with the OG screws + caps

Put in the NOS VW green coco mats - still has its "coin"

Put in the NOS feet papers

Tomorrow the assembly of the front seats

Enjoy the photos !

Still going strong Smile

When can I pick it up?

I always said I'd never be caught dead in a Fastback, but I'm still very much alive, so I can make an exception just this one time.

Did both front seats today

Gloss painted bases

Installed NOS cams on both seat reclining mechanisms
NOS chrome adjusting knobs - NOS forward / backwards knobs
NOS chrome side trim on the drivers seat

I am glad I fitted and stretched the seat rail part in the past
Never had such easy sliding seats in any Type 3 I owned / drove with / parted out

Using some grease on top of NOS seat rails helped a lot

The NOS 311 part numbered / year correct safety belts still need to be fitted in place

Need to find 1 reclining knob cover - should have it somewhere

Enjoy the photos !

Still going strong Smile

Bert, I had to read your thread again and have to say, it's a work of art. Beautiful detail man. Thanks for sharing an awesome example in your restoration.

My current 68 and past 71 were both lowbacks. I don't think Australian cars became highbacks until 72.

Lowbacks were available in various markets to the end of production, as was the 1500 sidedraft.
