So cool to live out of. Built in patio doors... would block off one inside for cabinets, could even make a fold out murphy style bed for summer nights under the stars. Endless possibilities for the right wallet Very Happy

I was thinking it would make a great Mt.Bike race team support vehicle, or any other off-road type sports. Rock climbing gear/support, etc.

It looks to be in great condition.

This is just the type of toy I would have loved back in my skate/surf/snowboard expedition days. If I was even ten years younger I would jump on it.

Based on the discussion I've seen surrounding this vehicle (and others from the same seller), as well as emails I've gotten from the seller, me thinks the mileage is inaccurate. Their other diesel syncro pop top sold on a no reserve auction at $32,500, but remains on The Samba for $45k. The "no reserve" part doesn't restrict the seller from cancelling the transaction, they can just say "eh, not enough, sorry".

The early model 2wd low mileage speedometer makes it not a good deal at all. Exclamation
There is something very fishy about that van and/or seller.
I feel sorry for the future buyer who overpays.

What make you think so? Maybe the 1.6 diesels came with that speedometer. Even a replacement speedometer, if that's what it is, does not mean that it's a bad buy. 14 other think the same, per the bidding.
The only thing that has me wondering is the listing's title. Is it a 1989 with a hopped up 1980 1.6L? I think so.
It's a nice looking van. I didn't know VW sold them here in the USA.

They didn't. The van is from europe. It would have had a KPH speedo. It has been switched out and that makes the stated claim of milage suspect.
When a seller makes that type of false claim you have to wonder about other aspects of the sale. Like the claim of no rust.
At least he's lowered the price. This same ad was at $79,000 last week!

That is a 2wd speedometer, the number on the face says so. It will read twice as fast as the actual speed is.
It is a early style speedometer not the correct style of the late model that it is.
14 people are bidding on a low mileage european imported model that isn't what the seller has listed. This vehicle is on at least it's second time on the auction block by that seller and bidders don't make it something that it likely isn't.
VW didn't sell that model in the states.
I am not making this up. It is clean but it isn't exactly what the seller is stating what it is by evidence in the pictures.

For example a obvious sloppy recent undercoating job-What is hiding under it?

I see a couple vanagons but mostly bay windows. I wonder if this is a ploy to get folks to buy stuff.
