High mileage, but a running Westy in good shape for 9 grand in the San Francisco bay area with smog cert in hand. Good be a really good deal.

|
|
Is it even worth entertaining...
It is hard not to notice the amount of syncro vanagons that are on the for sale block in Europe. So I fell into that research void looking into importing a vanagon and all that I would have to deal with. The one thing I don't know is potential mechanical differences of a vanagon that spent its life in and out of European repair shops...
Run away? or Dive in? |

I dove in. Even if you need to fix some things when it arrives the price difference in so good that it will be worth it. Most of those countries have far more rigorous inspections that we do in the states so if everything is current you should have a good start. I'll get my van off the boat in the next few days so I guess I'll know more then but all signs are looking good from what Busman tells me of my van. Plus searching around Europe os fun if you are into that sort of thing. _________________ '88 SCA High/Pop-top Syncro camper

Something fishy about this van at this price ($10,750), but who knows...

So we can see it after it goes away:
1986 Volkswagen Vanagon - $3500 (Chula Vista)
1986 volkswagen vanagon fuel : gas transmission : manual title status : clean cylinders : 4 cylinders
condition: good
1986 V.W. Vanagon. Freshly rebuilt 2.1 liter four cylinder engine, recently rebuilt transmission, new radiator, hoses, belts, fuel lines and battery. It has the rims and tires off of a Syncro Westfalia. I bought the van as a project, have recently decided to buy a sailboat, so I am selling this van for less than I have into it.This is a great start to a really great vanagon. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |
