I never understand the people who bid early on ebay? It is already almost 4k.

I don't bid on cars this way but on parts I might bid early because the current (or starting) price is the only price I will pay. Or if I am going to be unavailable I might bid so I don't forget, even though I have the phone app that beeps at me when something is up.

Haha, WHOOPS! Wrong thread. I meant to put this into the Official Whine thread.

Looks like a nice Syncro.

I'm so embarrassed! I knew you were interested in Syncros. I didn't even look for the tell tale fuel filler. I just assumed Syncro. I was mesmerized by the gloss of the paint and smell of that fresh interior. I take full responsibility for my weakness overwhelming truth and facts. It is actually the second time I've made that error. I almost bought a plane ticket once. Then I was asking the guy something and he said it has no front driveshaft.
Opps, oh well, it is high, but still not insane. A clean van is a ton of work.

Don't feel too badly. I almost bought a mid-century modern living room furniture set on ebay and just before I pulled the trigger I realized that it was for a doll's house. True story! I almost wish I had because it would have made an awesome story.

That's hilarious! You were like, "Wow, it's only a fraction of the price!"

It looks like the seams are almost gone. Lots of bondo (rust?) or lots of paint?

It has been advertised here on the Samba for a while as well as on Craigslist. Wonder what is wrong with it that the ads have been up so long, other than rough interior, not currently registered, hasn't been smogged in 10 years. It is near me but I haven't tried to see it.

Pretty nice van for sale in Albuquerque for cheap:
http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/5206167849.html
Seems likely this is a rustless van. Tempted to buy it myself!

This was listed on ebay twice and didn't sell then it was featured on Find Westys For sale and the seller posted a notice that it was sold. Now it's back?

Original listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/301695368775?vxp=mtr

Looks beautiful but certainly not for sale at $4,400. I think they meant $44k Sad

And yet after 13 full hours of being completely mispriced, the ad is still up and not fixed. The seller must really enjoy dashing people's hopes on the rocks. Rolling Eyes

For the http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/rvs/5207513058.html

I and a friend was trying to get details.

I contacted him via text like requested in the Ad he responded:
"For more pictures and information about the 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon GL Westfalia Syncro $4,400 Email me jessglazer07 @gmail.com on my work email for the next few days"

* there was no space in the email, I just rather he not google it and publicize my cell number

What he Wrote was (not exact words)
The vehicle is in Saint John in a Shipping container. If funds are sent through ebay then he'll ship the van after a week, if not satisfied then we could ship it back.

When I check Kijikki I see 2 other syncro's up there:
http://www.kijiji.ca/b-fort-st-john/vanagon/k0l1700303

My friend and I decided it was a scam. CL post is now removed

LOL Found the original, and it's not even listed in KMs like the ad was:
