I just installed a rebuilt 1600 dual port with an AS41 case. Now we're having trouble getting spark. The coil tested good at the local Bugformance shop. We've replaced the condenser, points and spark plug wires. The battery is a little on the low side at 11.78 volts. We tried a different 12v battery which registered 12.56 volts, but the same problem arises. Theres 12 volts on the positive side of the coil when the ignition is switched on. When cranking the engine, we read 12 volts when the points are open and 0 when closed on the negative side of the coil. There is no spark when we hold the plug wire from the coil to the engine when cranking. All the fuses have been replaced on the fuse box. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine suggested that you check the wire from the negative side of the coil to the distributer for any shorts. Also check inside the distributor and make sure the wire from the condensor to the points is not shorting out on the distributor body.

I hope this helps. Be sure to let us know what happens.

Are you sure the rotor is spinning?
I have had new coils go bad before.

You don't have the reverse lights plugged into terminal #1 do you? Is the ground wire for the breaker base plate still good? These are about the only things I can think of.
