Excuse my stupidity, but what was the original purpose for these? did they just give em out when you got to 100,000 k or was this a used car ploy or what?

The first badge is not correct. The K on Kilometer needs to be closer to the 1 on 100,000. I don't see this repo ofter but it is still not an original badge. Go back a page and look at the VW badge posted on Oct 26 by jz56oval..........you will noticed the difference in the placement of the 1 in relation to the K. I need enlargements of enamel areas of the "VW" on the second badge and photos of the reverse as well before I can make a call on that badge. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Your second badge (St. Christopher) looks to be a good one. It is the 1st stamping with the small head on the Christ child. The finish is also consistent with the early badge. I like it. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

Thanks for the picture. Was wondering if someone has a picture of one on their beetle. Was wanting to see how low they were originally mounted on the front quarter panel. |

I took this out of my '63 split and seeing as I don't have it any longer thought I'd sell it and use the cash for more bits for my current van
I'm guessing it's real - any idea of a value - I was told the screws are original?

Hello assesories gurus
I got a 100000km badge today, I'm not sure if its real or not.
It look old with the "patina", and the heads are much more detailed than my other 100000km badge. And it's reallöner thin.
I also have these badges, but I'm pretty sure they are fake

Bit of a thread resurrection again.... sorry...
But has anybody come across a 100,000 MILES badge?
Im fairly certain this is not a genuine VW badge (or could it just be more modern?).
It came with my '56 oval bug that was orginally Australian but imported to the UK many moons ago, so probably hit 100,000 miles relatively recently (in the last 30-40 years), in the UK.
anybody got any information please?
cheers

These are not old. About 10 years ago they were being distributed by BBT in Belgium. I have the 100,000 mile and the 150,000 mile versions. _________________ My Beetles :

Were cars in the American market given any badges when they reached the 100000 Km equivalent of about 62000 miles? |

Yeah, I have never seen anything in miles either. I was wondering if VW possibly gave US customers the 100k badges as well when they reached the equivalent or if US dealers just didn't participate in the program. Would be curious to see if any of the few US cars had received anything. |
