Does anyone know what the single wire (about # 16 gauge) that comes out of a group harness near the battery is for? On my '75 Beetle, it powers the factory electric fuel pump. Since I don't have that on my '74 Thing, I don't know what this wire is connected to. It looks like it would go to the positive battery connector. It has a "push-on" lug. Any ideas?? |

Thanks for info. I bet it is part of the diagnostic system. It has no effect connected or unconnected. I don't have backup lights so I thought that's what is was. That's another issues to troubleshoot. |

Did you check the fuse in the wire near the top of the fan shroud? That might be your backup light problem... |

Yes, that is the first place I went. I'm going to check the switch at the trans next. Wiring and connectors looks ok. |

C'Mon Matttt...Electricity doesn't care what color the wire is...
It only cares when it runs out or has a fatal attraction.... |

The wire appears to be yellow with possibly a red tracer. It has a push-on lug. |
