this bus is very interesting, original, rarer too.
proof positive that 15 windows are cooler than 23 windows. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

I've heard about this bus from the new owner for years and years. Nice to see that it's actually real......just awesome....less then 8000 miles from new.
Take careful notes here people....look at the details....if you restoring this is one to mirror. For example the seats are two tone....not the single color TMI tries to sell all 62-64 deluxe owners.
Look at the beltline trim.....red!!! NICE
Mikee....
Not all walkthrus had short middles seats....actually the large majority had full length middle seats. _________________ Transporter Restorations

that lotus white 15 window is proof positive that good things come to those who wait. i'm sure it wasn't cheap, but i'm gonna guess it was half of what the asking price will be for the oldbug bus.
whenever you think the ultimate bus has come along, something better rises to the surface a week later. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

I remeber seeing that bus at Buses By The Arch back in 1994. Beautiful bus...I think we even went for a beer run in it! I recall folks refering to it as "the bus that god would drive" LOL...
To the new owner, congrats! and I would love to see some detailed shots of the seam sealer details in your wheel wells. I have a `62 westy I am restoring and really would like to see what seams where seam sealed in those area and which were not on this era of buses. I can "kinda" see in thr current pics but would love some up close photos of those areas.
Thanks! _________________ Samba Member #95 |

Had a '66 21 Window and appreciated it.... but started liking 15 windows a long long time ago.
This '63 is the best of the best that I have seen in a long time.... Wow, eh! _________________ Scott |

I wondered why KWZ was selling this:
Low miles or not, I think I would have kept the '60... |

It wasn't an easy choice to sell my beloved Brock bus, but I used to dream about the'63 when I was in study hall in Junior High, I'm in my 30s now. You can only drive one at a time. I owned the '60 for over 10 years and truly loved and enjoyed it. The '63, well, even the smell is orgasmic. You just have to see the thing in person. Also, UZI, it's Pearl White; I used to think it was Lotus too... |

I'll answer any questions. I'll be posting pictures of it on the ground with it's new 6.40x15s on Friday. It had the original spare, and 4 dry rotted goodyear radials from the 70s. Rims are og paint with trim rings, 3 hubcaps perfect, one almost perfect. |

does the bus have its tool roll and owners manual packet?
does it have some wierd half-spherical protrusions in the spare tire well? (I have found this on several '63 walk through buses, but not on any other year) _________________ .

I suppose it's one of the first series 1500s. It's a late '63 (I'll get the exact date this afternoon when I'm with the bus.) It's alot like a '64 with corner windows- inward vents, late rear wheel openings and thin lip doglegs. It even has the gray rubber mats on the seat stands, which I thought started in '64 |

The seat stand mats started in December 17th, 1962 at chassis # 1 045 237.
I remember thinking they started for the 1963 model year until I bought my September, 1962 Standard and it had no trace of the mats.
I'd be interested to know if that is a "BR5" 40hp distributor or if they used a BR6 (Type 3 1500 distributor, still with large cap) or something else. _________________ How to Post Photos
