The correct tire size is 155 SR 15 going by the late 60s/early 70s owner's manuals. Example from the 1970 owner's manual:

R or SR usually means an 82 profile so 155/82/15 or whatever the closest you can get to it is, usually 80 if a direct 155R15 or 155SR15 is not available. Most people have upgraded to 165R15s over time.

5.60-15 in a bias ply tire = 155R15
6.00-15 in a bias ply tire = 165R15

Do not mix radial tires and bias ply tires on the same car, especially on the same axle. This is dangerous.

BF Goodrich makes the Radial T/A in a 155/80R15. I found this link awhile ago.

I was in at my local tire shop picking up my rims/tires for the Kombi and finally got around to asking how much the BFG's would be. I was quoted $115CDN including mounting, balancing and all taxes. I'll definitely be considering these next spring to replace my 30 year old bias-plys.
