I want to thank the PO's for not fixing the sunroof EVER, resulting in 4 rotted quarter panels, heater channels and floor boards. Yes, a $2 tube of caulk was definitely the way to go, kudos to you PO! Truly gave my car the opportunity to rot from the inside. I want to further thank them for not fixing the rusted panels but covering all the rust and rot with pounds of bondo turning the bottom of the car in a gorgeous plastic sculpture, nice touch!!! I wouldn't change the cracking layers of bondo for anything in the world. _________________ '65 Pearl White sunroof beetle 6V Euro delivery

Thanks for- Selling me my '67 Sunroof and providing me with a SHOT engine. It broke down on the way home after I bought it, and the engine needed a complete rebuild! My builder swapped it out for another core. He told me later on, "that engine you had in it was toast....broken crank, cracked heads, seized pistons....It's been machined several times over....in fact I can't even use it as a core and am going to have to throw it away!" As ignorant and excited as I was to buy my first vintage VW...I should have done a compression test before buying!!! I will never make that mistake again!
Previous owner- Thanks for nothing!!! _________________ 1967 VW Blue Sunroof Beetle

Went to remove the body today and I would like to thank the previous owner of my 65 for installing the body to the pan using self tapping sheet metal screws. There were none of the original mounting bolts it was all sheet metal screws. |

I would like to thank the previous owner of my 1966 Type 1 for being intoxicated while installing the front turn signals after some long ago bodywork. Must have looked great drunk. Sober,...not so much
Just glad I noticed this BEFORE the paint job!! |

Thanks, PO, for not cutting the dash when installing your Krako radio/cassette player, but I WISH YOU DID. It would have been easier to fix than where you cut behind the gas tank (by the fuse block) and put a hinge and key-lock contraption.
Oh, and by-the-way, new back window rubber would have been way cheaper than replacing the parcel tray, rusted clear through from years of leaking. _________________ Zenith Blue, black interior 1967 Volkswagens! |

Looks like an earlier fender (which had a different turn signal mounting location from the factory); since all years fit the body in that era. |

I'd like to thank the PO for the homemade aluminum transmission mounts. Not only are they fugly, but they are too tall making the exhaust touch the apron... _________________ 1966 Beetle - sunroof

Just wanting to thank the PO for owning the car, if he hadn't, I never would have it now. I am enjoying every quirk and mystery a 50 year old car can bring. |

Wow..... where to start,
Thanks for replacing the windows with those godawful one piece ones, and "fixing" the pan underneath the battery with a rubber mat, also thanks for cutting the dash with a hacksaw then leaving no radio in the car whatsoever. thanks for losing the gas cap and replacing it with one from auto zone, that was a nice touch.
I would also like to add the removal of the running boards to the list, it was so nice of you to replace them with Baja nerf bars from JC Whitney, and by the way, where the hell is the rear view mirror and sun visors? And please tell me why you would cut bracket for the seat adjusters off of the hump?
Sincerely yours, current owner. |

Thank you, PO for your beautiful home-brew wiring diagram (no kidding - everything works great, dome lights, the lot) because without it I'd be really screwed. I'd scan it & post it, but it's about a 5ft square piece of laminated butcher paper.
Not so much the mechanic who wanted to buy it from under me when he inspected it for the PO the day before I collected it. Went in fine, sailed through the inspection, but came back with mysteriously missing parts - not enough to ruin it, but enough to make it run real bad until I found out what was missing (volume screw from carb, choke wires disconnceted, that sort of thing.) _________________ Money's just something you need in case you don't die in your sleep tonight. |

I would like to thank my bugs PO for selling me not only my 67, but a 66 parts car and a wrecked 71 with a good engine, all for $150. I got the mess out of your field, and you provided me with a project. _________________ Troy

I would like to thank my PO for selling me a Beetle with #1 spark plug stripped out
and having the plug cross threaded to hold it in just long enough to keep it in there and run well enough for me to buy it.
Then on my 120 mile trip home having the spark plug shoot out like a deer slug
forcing me to drive the last 40 miles home on 3 cylinders, and then having to drop the motor
the same day I bought it to fix it.
(am I ranting?)
I'm not complaining tho, I like to get intimate with my Beetles

I'd like to thank my PO for giving me a free car, even though it was stripped of everything useable.
At least we got his yard cleaned up for him

Keeping my 65 in a garage when not driving. While it has the typical grime and use youd expect of a 50 year old car, the more I look and pry the better I feel about how much I paid for it and how solid it is. |
