Hi Guys,
Winter is fast approaching here in the Sierras and I am considering buying a car cover for my Thing. Does anyone have any suggestions on what or where to buy one?
Thanks,

I have the premium Thing Shop cover and even though it is a little spendy, I haven't regretted it.
Here in Fla, we are greeted with a nice layer of dew every morning and that cover does a great job of keeping the car dry (it both repels water and allows whatever water that gets through to evaporate). Also, as you would expect from the Thing Shop, it is fitted perfectly and double stitched.
If it didn't live the in the tropics, I don't know if the premium material would be worth it, but otherwise I recommend the Thing Shop. _________________ '73 Thing -- making 45 mph exciting again. |

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the links and the endorsement! They are a bit pricey but so was the cost of my Thing! Maybe Xmas will come a bit early this year!?

I bought my water proof Thing cover at Pep Boys for about $69.00.
A second one for other Thing that sits under a canopy and is dust proof only for around $49.00. Both cover everything down to wheel wells. _________________ Ya can't have too many Vdubs!

Hi Pat
Where at are you? My wife and I are from Columbia. Winter is a great time for a Thing. Course you have to park where no snow lands on a soft top. But we love driving in the snow with it. |

Hi Ferretkona,
I live in Carson City, Nevada. Normally here at the 4700ft level we don't see a whole lot of snow but the last two years have been exceptional. Last year we got almost two feet of it in my driveway! We bought the Thing this past Summer after I sold my old Pick-up truck so I haven't experienced winter in a VW Thing yet. I have had many VW 's before so I do know how to drive them in the snow. I just need to get my BN4 working so I can use the defroster! I was going to buy an SUV (blah!) to replace my old Ford but my Wife convinced me that life would be better if we had a VW Thing instead! So far, she was totally right and we both love the Thing. I just hope she handles our winter weather!

If you are to buy one from a local parts store which car should I buy it for since "Thing" is never listed unless I buy specifically from the Thing Shop. |

I buy the small SUV overs and they fit fine. Although they are a bit loose. I use rubber clamps on the edges of the bumpers to hold it in place. I am sure The Thing Shop covers are great. They are just out of my price range. |

I did some research and Covercraft makes quite a few car covers for Things-just need to google it and then go to a retailer. I have seen stuff from low $100's to $340 |

$65 - $315
That's a pretty wide range.
I've no idea how their premium "Nextec" stands up, but knowing the Thing Shop, they probably believe it to be the best they can get. |
