I'm pretty sure both of these pics are of the same bus, a BD 15 window in east germany judging by the DDR sticker. The black and white photo is earlier if its the same bus (D sticker versus DDR, repaint in color pic because of tape line at beltline, license light change, the same guy just looks younger, same taillights and lower lights in both ) Any info on this bus?

Could it possibly be the same 15-window 51 now in the UK, that bus has DDR roots right?

Yep that's the UK 51. Pretty much all the 15 window barndoor photos floating about are of that bus. Thats partly why People were beginning to think that it was a very Special order or prototype. That was until Dai's 53 turned up. He has a vintage pic of that too just posted in the vintage thread.

From page 52 of Vintage Photos Post. Apparently the same bus and at the Porsche workshop, so very likely that this bus was "one-off" at the time. The east german UK bus vin is 20-017671, its the 3rd oldest Deluxe on Barndoor.dk and one of the two deluxes older is a known hack on an actual 51 Kombi. The other older deluxe appears to be @ the flat-4 museum in Japan. Very interesting that this 51 is a very very early deluxe.

Here is the pic Dai posted of his bus back in the day.

Porsche bus doesn't appear to have deluxe body trim or body bumpers, may not be the same as the DDR bus

The 15 window deluxe was bought in DDR by a friend of me. Gunther. He drove around with it and it was once in Bad Camberg with Beavis and Butthead on the front painted on and a half 1/43 scale car glued on the broken frontwindow. It was white with red and in Camberg it was painted dark blue as it appeard in a movie as a police bus, Afterwards it was again painted over for another movie. It was sold to the uk. All the same one off rare barndoor.

I always thought this was another (3rd) bus due to the roof vent. Looks like another 51.

I'm glad they covered the front. Wouldn't want that to get wet. Laughing

Wow. Killer bus, possibly even worse than the stuff I start with.

It looks like a whole different bus when you set the roof right side up.... Laughing

There's a bus in this picture? It looks like two wheels, a front beam and a bunch of scrap metal to me Shocked
