Before my 62 Ragtop I owned a 66 Mustang and I can tell you first hand that VW parts are a third the price of a mustang. After I bought by bug I called a parts store for a new fuel pump, when they told me the price (like 20 bucks) I told the guy, "wow thats cheap, are you sure?" The guy told me "it's a bug right!!!!" Thats when I knew I would love fixing up my bug. _________________ "You smell gas?"

What gets me are not only the outrageous prices some sellers try to charge, but the attitude you get when communicating with them. You can tell they are just rude kids.
"It's like buy it now, man or shut the F--- up! "
Or you tell the buyer you want to buy an item they have up for sale, they say OK and then you never hear from them again! |

anybody have a easy wiring diagram for a 68?this one is a nightmare, got a new main harness cause too many splices . But the underhood spaghetti mess is driving me nuts.Specially since the d.a. that had it ,took most of the switches and put two wire on/off switches in their place...got the original type switches and relays but i can`t read the stupid diagram in my vw book. Not good at all with blueprints.....no color codes in it either..... |

More dreaming.......
You don't always get out of a car what you put into it. Remember, Custom modifications are something YOU may like, but not everyone likes the same thing, especially at this price!

I fell for one lately - 67 Bug, everything there and all original parts for $500.00! I talked with the guy, he emailed pics and it looked like a great deal. I headed to the bank then drove 2 hours to find a stripped body with no motor, tranny, fenders or glass. When I asked about the pics he explained that's what it looked like 2 years ago - and we wonder why people go postal |

Guidelines for placing an advertisement:
1. Show a recent photo of the car for sale, not one taken 10 years ago at an
auto show.
2. Don't make the buyer have to do mental arithmetic about what the bottom
line is: ($6,000 - repairs YOU will make). Set a price and make it
negotiable.
3. The language and spelling in this advert is so mangled, after reading the
advert I was confused as to what the seller was really trying to say!
I don't mean to be mean spirited, but a lot of people don't make top dollar on their cars simply because they didn't think out the advertisement before placing it. |

Got another one that really grinds my gears...
Guy is selling some parts, and it says $350 obo. So I call him up and say that I am willing to offer $315. He says, I want $350 for it. I kindly tell him okay, but if he can't find a buyer at that price I am offering $315. He says absolutely not, and throws in a couple more jerky remarks.
So what's the deal with this?? If your ad says obo, I don't think you should be offended when people make you offers. On the flipside, when you're clearly giving out a steal of a deal, make no mention of offers (or it even says firm) and you STILL have people trying to lowball, that's equally as retarded/frustrating. |

It helps to not keep reciepts. That way, your wife doesn't know and when and if you sell it, it won't make you sick. _________________ '72 Beetle

How about when the add's say,"All offers over......." So if thier asking 10,000, they expect you to offer 11,000? No 12,000? Wait........ no 13,500?
OR
"Asking 5,000......But I'll go as low as 4,500"

Man, that car's in the the new issue too. How do you spend that kind of time and money just to sell the car shortly after? |
No way...just no frik'n way.
40 thousand....I'm just thinking of the all the different brand new vehicles I could buy with 40k.
Maybe he didn't spend that kind of money on the car? Maybe he works in the automotive service or body repair field?
If he does he should already know that money spent and especially time spent on an old classic vehicle have no bearing on resale value. It's still just a 56' bug.....with ugly orangish red paint. |
