This is a super clean car, there's a few things that look a little off and there's some work to be done on the fenders, but it's still a pretty clean car. It's definitely not a $15,000 car and I think the use of a Barrett Jackson auction as a reference is just dumb. If you want Barrett Jackson prices, take it there and see where it gets you.

I could imagine if I actually had that much loot to buy that Beetle, bring it home, and hear my wife say you paid $15,000 for a car with a big dent in the fender like that? WTF! Was it really too hard to fix this before the sale???

Even if he ditched the crank pulley, Cal-Look window rubber, cheap ass carpet, both aftermarket bumpers, all the rubber that was painted with the car, clean the paint off the firewall insulation, ditched the aftermarket oil filler, mounted the coil right, ditched the fuel filter in the engine compartment, replaced the garbage 009 distributor and put an original vacuum advance on, and ditched the carpet in the trunk, it still wouldn't be worth $10,000.

I like the pre-sale prep he performed to assure electrical stability- by loading the fuse box completely with 16 amp fuses... Think

You are turned off by the two tone paint job. And yes, the price is absurd. But, he does like it very much. Wink

I'm more turned off by the crap carbs, the hacked up dash, Cal-Look rubber, crappy interior, the missing hub cap, and the fact that he added one too many zeros to his price, but yes, the two-tone paint schemes are and should be a thing of the past. Am I the only one that wants to email people like that to try to bring them back to reality? Lol

Oh, and the cheap running boards and lack of chrome, the cheap bumpers or lack of missing bumper parts, and the huge indentation at the bottom of the drivers door, but I'm sure $25,000 is a fair price to someone who really likes their car lol.

Ya. I didn't have the energy to list all the crap that's wrong with that car. That's gotta be the most absurd price I've seen in a long time. And ya, your not the only one that wants to email people about there ads. I had one a couple weeks back that got me to the point that I emailed the seller back (this was via craigslist). They posted the car without pics (that I asked for and finally received) of the cancerous rust in the sunroof and roof of the car. But "other than that the car was perfect!". Whatever. That's actually the second time in a week that I've received follow up pics that included very bad rust that was not even mentioned in the ad. I have way more respect for people that put the bad out there up front. Than those that try to hide it until the last minute. Makes me run for the hills. Wondering what else they haven't told me.

Love or hate this guys price:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1818175

At least he puts it out there from the get go - "The car has been hit in the Rear before, has been repaired...". Gotta respect that.

That's awesome. I squinted at that guy for a couple minutes, wondering what he did to you and who he was. Long before noticing the Baja... Well done.

LOL, hauls butt, it's been hit in the butt, the butt has been replaced, the front is damaged, EVERYTHING on the inside was painted the same color because someone was too cheap and lazy to take it apart, and I guarantee those fenders aren't correct for that car, among many other things.

As original as they come, yet the car and wheels have been repainted, rear bumper is aftermarket, and the underside of the deck lid is black? That interior almost looks too good to be true, but at least it's the correct '65 only interior. I always question cars with that low of mileage that have been repainted, unless it sat outside the entire time under the sun.

Why do people cover up their license plates in pics? I'm honestly asking. I don't see the security threat. Since your driving around everyday with your plates visible anyway. (scratching my head...)

I personally don't think it matters but driving around a few people might see your car. Post it online and it easily becomes thousands.
