German does NOT mean Genuine VW. |
True, you'd think German would good enough though, especially if it means paying $18.50 vs $100. lol |
Would be for most of us... there is that percentage that absolutely MUST have NOS VW if they're doing a super high-end restoration and by that standard those folks probably would pay the premium for genuine NOS VW parts.
Me? I'll likely never have that kind of passion. lol. |
I'm right there with ya, even though I like original parts. |

I'll put my 2 cents in too
I have paid more for NOS even when a nice reproduction part was available.
For me, the price differential would be too great here, unless I happened to own a super nice low mileage original car and broke the handle. Even then...
For my low mileage car I recently paid about 3x what a repro cost to buy something NOS... but the repros are unacceptable to me even though they are nice. (Not a perfect match in color or shape) _________________ How to Post Photos

Very true, but why label a part as German if it's not original? Maybe because it's made there? Lol |

To fool people like you!
I agree with you all, at $100 it's too steep, even for NOS.
For me, I can't afford the cheap repro crap, so I always search out the higher priced parts.
Don't get this? Here's an example. A few years ago my DD's fuel gauge went out. Sender was burnt. My local supplier listed an unknown brand one for $20 and a VDO sender for $30. I'll take the expensive one. Sorry, out of stock. So I waited. After 6 months, I caved and bought the cheap one. Two months later, it burned out. By then they had the VDO one in stock. Total cost, $50 for buying the cheap one. _________________

I dream about when this used to have an air-cooled engine in the rear where it belongs, save the V8's for the Me Too Mustang and Tri-five guys. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

I saw that too, not sure what's going on there. Those are some clean original parts, it be cool to see that car get put back together and left as original as possible. |

I like the 'fine print' of his ad. It disclaims every unnecessary element of his business except the part about not having a clue about value, or what constitutes original or complete. _________________

His Samba feedback speaks for itself.
