Restored? $7000 for a plain Jane '66?

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1659135

$5000 for this? I realize these cars won't sell for this, unless someone is not very smart and has to have that particular car.

survivor; Un-restored original car with little work other than maintenance done. Typically original paint, interior, engine, etc. No restoration work done.

Some vintage oil can circa 1910-1940 can fetch hundreds (even a few thousands) of US dollars. Not saying the one advertised is collectible, but some are

Quote:
Red Paint is possibly 3rd over yellow and original.
Carb just rebuilt. Engine is NOT original to the car,
Car was converted to 12v in the late 80's
Rear apron, left rear fender, possibly left door and right front quarter panel were replaced
When I bought the bug it had been setup to be towed behind a motor home with 71 taillight and front turn signals! I installed brand new correct turn signals
All German metal except Brazilian deluxe bumpers
Heater channels were replaced from A pillar to B pillar at this time

So what exactly survived?
