I'm sure it's unique, rare, one-of-a-kind or something to be asking for that much... |

Distributor 36 hp VW $575
Vintage 36 hp VW distributor. New/old stock. Shelf stored out of box. Excellent condition. Never installed. Cap and rotor included. |
It's a 040 which is a factory replacement for the VJU4BR8 so it's not as valuable as the original.
Also Bosch never used aluminum contacts in the distributor cap.

Really.... this is a massive difference from the ad text.
What exactly is rusty underneath? |
http://toledo.craigslist.org/cto/4872743949.html
It must of been an old repaint because this bug was white at one time.
Very clever picture taking.
Yes the pics tell a different tale which is why I wasted an entire day going to Michigan to find that this bug is very crusty not to mention the passenger side door has been replaced due to it being wrecked at one time.
Frame rusted out where bumper mounts to frame......Pan has rust issues in many areas. |

Asking $5,000.00 OBO because I have spent twice that in attempting to restore and know that I'll never get back what I put into it. |
Isn't 5,000$ just a tid bit... too high? 2,000$ maybe? |

Exactly... Did it really cost him 10,000$ to fix the engine?
I'm curious as well, so I'll ask him to clarify a bit. |

I see like 40 bucks in parts, maybe 50 for the whole thing...but i doubt the case is good. Carb, dizzy, generator stand, generator. He might sell for 80 if someone is willing to gamble they can get the lower end to be worth a damn

Thought that looked familiar...
Saw it in a field last year... Could have sworn I was told a tree fell on it...
Had an engine at that time, albeit the wrong one... _________________ 1974 "Restfalia" Camper 2000 cc EFI 2001-
