I removed the first ad since it says sold but here's the text so you can see there are some non-original things in the description
Quote:
2nd Owner since 2012, Wolfsburg Edition, Orig. San Francisco car, original owner's manual, pan replaced 1970's, car is mostly solid w/surface rust, 12 volt, recent brakes & tune up, new rag 2013, heater & defroster works, all electrical works, runs strong, daily driver. Some body rot in the usual places under the spare tire in the front clip (see pic) and door pillars. Minor dings-no major accidents, as it's original and unmolested. Great running car that needs restoration if that's your goal, otherwise, great daily driver. Came with grey replacement interior we took off, and new (best quality wool) carpet still in bag. Currently registered w/clean title. Brings smiles & thumbs up all over town:)

$10 shipped doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
I would pay that if I had that color car.

That's why it's only $10 shipped. Smile

It would be cool for display.
It's not like you could spray it out if it was full anyway, the paint is 40+ years old.

For reference, I have seen nicer spray cans with more popular colors sell for $30.
Quarts even more - there are a bunch in the classifieds for $100 each right now and I think the guy sold a few of them already.

$8500, plus you have to pay for the tune up? Why not just add the cost of the tune up to the cost of the car, or absorb it? Makes no sense to me. Confused

Quote:
UPDATE: A COMPLETE TUNE -UP HAS BEEN DONE AND THE CAR IS READY TO GO! NEW PRICE TOO….
I have the complete invoice for the recent tune-up that must be paid by the new owner before the car is released. This can be sent to you by e-mail.

Makes no sense at all.
better yet just include it for the price as it says ready to go.
But it also says it won't last, well almost a year now Wink

This car has been for sale on and off since 2009-10 I think. I find it funny that it's been for sale for $6000, $7000, $7500, $8000, $8500, and I think it may have even been at $9000. I've tried to buy this car quite a few times with no luck. The seller always has some sort of excuse like someone local being interested or something. It's a joke, I wish the ad would just get pulled since the guy is never serious about actually letting the car go. He also has ignored my request for pics of the replaced sheet metal areas, I wouldn't even bother contacting him. The fact that he's even asking a potential buyer to pay for the tuneup seems shady to me.

Pigalle came in black and white 1966 only type 1 and type 3's. He has NO clue and that car isn't worth anywhere NEAR what he's asking. The Vw market is so shot to shit by uneducated people who think they're sitting on an all original Plymouth Roadrunner with super low miles! Are these collector cars? I think they are, but they were a super cheap car that anyone could afford when they were new! The auctions and uneducated people like this are making people think these cars are gold mines.

Rear engine tin has no hole for preheat, dash grab handle should not be chrome, seat covers and door panels incorrect, running board trim too small. That is what I see right away. These are small items but sheesh for that kind of money I want it perfect with an F0 engine and not a new rebuilt 1300.

I know what you mean, but nobody makes the correct door panels, you'd have to dye the mats, and I think only Wolfsburg West and West Coast Classics sells the seat covers that are somewhat close. Even with all of that stuff being corrected, I would pay that price. The one car I miss the most is my all original pearl white '66 sunroof with the factory pigalle interior, I'd love to have that car back.

TMI is now offering correct 66 door panels and seat covers in bright red. They used original patterns. Here is the thread

Oh, ok, I wasn't sure if they had actually started making them yet or not. I saw that thread, that's awesome that they're making them.

I have 2 passions Vintage VW's and Harley Davidsons. HD prices for example pushrods (remember 2 cylinders) $200. Rockerarms $200. Engine case $1154.99. Connecting Rods (2) $310. Cylinder heads (with valves and springs) $1040 each. Piston sets (2) $344. Cylinders only $200 ea. (cylinders require honing) Exclamation These are standard replacement prices. High performance parts are unbelievable. As you can see if you want to see someone with sticker shock watch me a VW nut when I look at the same parts at Harley Davidson. So yeah I complain about VW parts but I just put a top end on my 1600 single port, rebuilt heads, new cylinders (4) pistons and rings. Throwout bearing, transaxle mounts etc. for like $750. Razz
