I know right? After I posted this, I found one for $875 with all of the correct knobs, hardware and documentation that a frequent poster here has advertised. Now I wish I still had all of those Sat. 5's that I binned years ago. Who knew.

This is what the door handle pin looks like. The one on the left is broken and the one on the right is repaired. The parts cost around $2.59 per handle at Ace Hardware. I did mine in an hour and it works great. Without the pin, unlocking the door with the key is difficult.
Just search "door handle rebuild" in the forums and you'll find the procedure.
Good Luck. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I actually think that car is pretty cool looking myself. You can see thus guy's done a TON of mods to it, and I think they've been done tastefully. _________________ .

I wonder that too.
I think sometimes people have no clue and they don't want to price it low but they they start WAY too high.
Or they look at the other cars for sale and think mine is nicer, I better price it higher.
Repeat that a few times with people looking at the ads above and you see even higher prices for future ads.
Tip: If your car has been for sale for more than a month, it's probably priced too high. _________________ How to Post Photos

Everett, I really wish people would get that. There are SO many cars that have been for sale for a year or more, yet the price never changes. I've called on a couple that I really wanted, had the cash, but they're so unrealistic that they refuse to come down to a fair price because "someone told them it was worth that", it's annoying. One I called on is a car I've been looking for, for quite some time. It's a project, which I don't mind, but he was wanting $14,500, and it needed interior, brakes, the engine to be gone through or possibly rebuilt, the doors, front fenders, deck lid, and hood all still needing to be painted, and who knows how the wiring was. I offered him a VERY fair price because it's exactly what I've been wanting, but we were still too far apart. He at least came down from the $14,500, to $8800, but that's still too much for a full restoration project in pieces. I'm actually getting out of Vw's for a while because of these stupid prices and I don't have the patience to wait for one with a realistic price to pop up, then hope I beat someone else to get it. I bought a '66 Chevelle for a lot less than what people are wanting for their Vw. Then you have people like this guy, which I've posted before, who is beyond realistic, and about $20,000+ more than what his car will EVER be worth. Oh, look at the original listing date...

I've been trying to buy that car since 2009! The guy is a f**king joke! He always has some excuse to not send pictures I've asked for, and the car never seems to sell for some reason. It looks like a beautiful car, but he always backs out of selling it when someone serious with cash comes along. |

I get what you're saying but here's a different view point. Some people don't have to sell their car or part. They have a price they want for it and they simply are not going to settle for less. I've listed some parts at the very top of the price range before that I wasn't necessarily in a hurry to sell. My mindset was if someone wants it or needs it, they can pay the price or pass on it. In all cases, the parts sold for what I wanted.
The bug for 30k to me isn't priced to ridiculously high. I didn't study the car but buying a fixer upper in the say $8k range that needs a trans, paint, engine, interior and then tracking down the correct missing parts, etc.., can quickly burn through your wallet if you have the work done to a high standard by shops. I can see someone exceeding $30k if they bought a worn out bug and brought it back to like new condition. Even more if there is rust on it.
IDK, I don't get frustrated when I see ads w/pricing off the realm of reality. They'll either figure out it's priced too high and lower it or they will hold on to it forever. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

That 66 bug for $27,000 isn't priced too ridiculously high to you? No offense, but it's a 66, they're a dime a dozen. There isn't anything rare about a 66, especially that one, period. The car has been redone, nothing on that car is original, and I guarantee that car doesn't have 30,000 original miles. He's had that car for sale for over a year! I'm curious though, what makes you think that car is worth anything near that price? I ask because a lot of people in the hobby seem to think Vw's are gold. Also keep in mind, although I love these cars, they're still one of the most mass produced economy cars ever built. I can buy a SS Camaro or SS Chevelle for what he's asking for that bug. If you truly want to know what someone is willing to pay for something you have, put it in an auction and see what happens. |

Easy solution if you don't like someone's price....don't buy it. Essentially sounds like you're pissed because someone has what you want and won't sell it to you at the price you want? As mentioned some people just list cars/items for sale that they really don't care if they sell. I've done it. There's a price at which I'll part with some items. If someone wants it that's what it will take. |
