Is that expanded steel over the heater floor vent to prevent rat's from making a home in the interior? Or for grilling a Hamburger?

The farther the caliper is from the center of rotation the greater its leverage, and you spread the generated heat out over more steel. There are not many cases where a car as light as a Bug would need that much brake.

You think you win awards with black pulleys?
You need something to pop for the judges.

Never has a solid roofed beetle with one line of text sold for 5 figures.

I'm not sure I've ever seen that side of my distributor before.
I see "award winner" most often when the "award" was really "best import."

I'm going to go look at this '66. Anyone have any thoughts they would like to share based on the ad? Opinions on the price?

All three of 61s I've had over the years had had gas gauges added to them.

Also, that one has a 1961-only windshield washer tank. And the inside pic is hard to tell but I don't think it's got sliders over heater vents, another 61-last-year feature.

One of my concerns I always have with cars without bumpers is whether they don't have bumpers because the bumper mounts have issues, which can be a pain in the ass to replace/fix.

Front driver's door hinge is worn. Makes door sag. Also, wiring looks clean under hood, but I see some splices. And I wish folks would remove the multimeter from their pictures when asking top dollar for a car! Makes me go, "hmm, I wonder what electrical issue they're having?"

Funny. First thing I thought too regarding the multimeter. Looking at the drivers door what am I missing? Body lines look pretty well lined up?

There's a slight difference between the chrome trim on the door and the rear quarter panel. It's been my experience that indicates an upper worn hinge pin
