 OK tell me if I'm wrong . But yes 79 last rear, but some were made into January of 1980. So if you want to call them 1980 that is OK with me.

Yes, European production went into January 1980. Problem is from 78 on they were convertibles only.

Thanks! Now that I looked at it better it's just a Mexican Beetle . Black light rings , bumper lights, and a carb.

That is a 1993-2004 Fuel injected mexican Sedan.
The seat covers pattern its from 1999-2003
That thing on the engine is not a "carb", its a throttle body with sensors: throttle Position Sensor and air intake temp sensor.
The last standard Sedan was made in Germany (at the Wolfsburg factory) in 1974

Where were post 74 standard sedans made then ?
According to Garwood's COTC "German beetle SEDAN ceased production in January 1978"

I have to admit it's a very sharp car, for what seems like a good price (and possibly could be had for even less since apparently the guy doesn't know his bugs)- if I had the money to spend I might be seriously looking at it.

You mean the last standard Beetle made at the Emden factory, in 1978.
I mean the last standard Beetle made at the Wolfsburg factory, in 1974.

| I don't want to complain too much but a lot of companies make the original style trunk liner without the original pattern with the lines in it. The original ones had the lines on them and the reproduced ones are just flat. They are also more expensive than what I would pay for a reproduction. Here's an example of the original |

WINDOWS: Right click on the picture and Save As |
Much easier way.
Right click on the picture in craigslist, and select "copy image location."
Then in your post on here, click the "Img" tab up above twice, and you will see this:
[img][/img]
Paste that copied image location between the two bracketed Img's and that's it.
P.S. This method also provides a link to the image location on the internet, thereby saving space on the samba servers.
