I can't tell if he is saying he installed them new 2 years ago and then the car never moved. If so, I can't see how they would get that sort of wear just sitting.

Looks like new when installed 15-20 years ago

Whine For free
Cool, I'll do it.

I wish someone had a working 12V cigarette lighter for a 72 Standard Beetle
that wasn't aftermarket looking.

Just the large round rubber one with the smoking emblem in the center complete with socket.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Seems like only the aftermarket types are available, and those don't match my other knobs.

WOW, that felt good !

These are rare because only 1000 were produced and only one was allocated to each dealer in the USA.

Unless I am massively misinformed on these cars or am missing something, this is BS.

I see those late model Convertibles for sale all the time and tons of them are low mileage and near mint.

There's one in the classifieds, similar condition, for a fraction of the price.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1631402

I don't really care about special editions as it seems rather expensive for a couple of stickers, but none of my quick research found it to be as rare as stated (only 1,000).

It always seems that people get it their heads that their car is special and worth exorbitant amounts of money.

Investment car, yes. The one per dealer allotment claim is one I've heard for 30 years on these Champagne Editions, though- but I haven't heard 1000 only produced. I don't believe them to go down in value, but, the fact is, they don't go up in value either. They are like buying Classic Coke bottles in the 80s- the huge windfall expected never materialized because everybody was doing it. These owners are also holding onto their Nagel prints and Bradford Exchange plates for the same reason.

These cars are only worth $35k to the non-VW bidder on free drink number four on a Thursday in Scottsdale- hours before having to fly home. To the rest of the world: $12k tops.

375 Really? Must be someone who wants a burnt up rat rod or the seller putting in a bogus bid.
