That is my add, posted it as a joke thinking maybe some of the local guys would email me trying to figure out who it was. Instead it ended up going viral and I got bunches of emails. Some funny, some were from people who just can't be thankful for a good joke.

That is funny, I was really wondering if it was a joke or not.

I'm guessing it is a 1998 Mexican Beetle assembled on top of a 1972 Beetle frame, a kind of gray market import that was fairly popular at the time. Then the owner tried to update it to 2003 Mexican Beetle specs. I have no idea how close it is as I don't know the detail differences in Mexican made Beetles.

Speak to the hand No, go back and read the ad. It's a Bettle. I see a lot of them, and parts for them, in the classifieds. d'oh!

V-4 engine configuration? Was that a standard Volkswagen upgrade?

Normally I'd say $3K would be an ok deal. But this Baja conversion has a charging issue, brake issues, and a one piece front end. Sounds like it'll be a can of worms for the next owner.

Shocked

This ad just reeks of false statements, embellishment and sales BS. I love the "exact specs" comment when the wheels are painted body color.. $33k and no engine photos?

From the ad:

I know you won't find another one 1500.00

You surely won't find another one for $1500 -- no one else is that crazy!

For $1500 he could buy a few of these. . . . . His ad certainly is missing a lot of them. Confused

Where do these people get these valuations on their cars? I don't know when a 72 super will EVER be worth $10.5k, but for that kind of insane price it should at least have a clean engine bay and no lame ass paint graphics on it.
