If it's all original and in good shape, then that is worth something. But agreed that $11k is a tad high for a not very collectible year.
Still nice to see such a well cared for Beetle. |

It's the matching passenger side mirror. _________________ "Just $99 down and $64 a month for 36 months buys you a brand new Volkswagen Beetle!"

Seriously.
I looked at that ad too and thought the same thing...
Was ready to shoot him an email till I read it twice and realized it was just for the body. _________________ Drive your VW... That's what it was made for.

I'm sure he could of gotten an engine and chassis for about half what he's asking for this shell. Cars like this should be preserved unless it's some rust bucket. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

When I'm bored, I check out some of the type1 for-sale ads, and I have to wonder at the naïvete of some sellers.
They show a picture of the open trunk. The trunk is filled with plastic bags, beer cans, old sneakers, other forms of garbage. Really?
Some show the engine compartment with obvious tins and fresh air hoses missing. You know that engine has been running hot as a result for god knows how long.
More garbage on the floors or seats of the interior. Geeze, can't they manage to at least pick up the obvious stuff?
It makes you wonder how often they changed their oil. Of course, if they did, you'd probably find the empty bottles on the floor between the front and back seats.

I'll do you one better, Tim. A supposedly well cared for Beetle I was looking at many years ago had a significant amount of rainwater pooled up on the floor in the back seat area. The owner actually had no idea it was there and was genuinely shocked. As a VW owner myself, I helpfully pointed out to the owner that a puddle of water inside the car was not a good thing- though it did prove that the pan didn't have any holes in it..... yet. |

I got my beetle from a German chic. Unfortunately the hairy underarm type. She left 3 new tampons in the ashtray which I found and pointed out to her on the testdrive. _________________ 1973 1303 with AB-motor - sporadic
