got the sunroof installed this weekend. Works great. Only took 2 days ( haveing to take breaks to cool off the mind before i broke something else) yes broke a cable within the first hour or so. Luckaly a friend has a sunroof car that wont be done for a year or so and i was able to rob a cable from him. I also couldnt get the ISP billet pcs to fit right.??? might just have to take it down there and let them do it. Cleaned up the OG pcs and worked like charm.

thanks Martin,

I called you friday to ask you something, cant rember what for now. But in one of the threads i found a good step by step on how to install the sunroof and told my self i can do this.

I still have to do the felt and i'm waiting for (hopefully last) shipment from ISP on couple more seals, seat belts and hoses for under the dash. need to wire the fog lights, glue the door seals and couple little things. Once its all done I will clean it up take some good pics.

i need to vent...........

4 years ago when i pulled my car off the road to tear down and paint/retore i got a ltter in the mail from our freinds at DMV stating you have canceled insurance and registration will be suspended if you dont show proof of insurance. or you can non op the car. I did the non op and for th epast 4 years have been getting my paper asking do you still wish to non op the car if so do nothing. if not pay the fees.

So the car is about done i go to my local AAA and tell her i'm ready to take thi scar of non op. She tells me its in suspesion. I said no i non opped it. oh yes you did ok lets see. that will be $125 oh do you have personllized plates? Yes I do. well you have to pay 4 years of those to get them caught up. OK what ever how much is it. your total is now $233 ok here you go. Oh wait your registration is suspended i cant issue a tag until that gets fixed.

I tell her I have insurance and have had it for while and hav ebeen getting these non slips in the mail for 4 years i dont get it. Well sir you reg went into suspension in june and you non opped it july. so now you have to mail $14 to scaramento and wait 4-6 weeks for processing. Oh by they way they wont let you know when its processed yo uhave to just keep calling us to find out.

WTF so frustarted right now. i wanted to go to show next weekend and take it to drag days in irwindale but if they take there sweet ass time i wont make it.

AAA can't take those fees, but what she didnt tell you was that if you go to a local DMV, they will. I like AAA and all, but there is just too much they can't do

I asked her if i could go DMV and take care of it. she said no. I called the 1-800# on the dmv website and they told me because it was non-op i have to mail it in.

I havent tried walking in to DMV just to see though.

a good bit of info for the next guy or build. Walk in, bring some pictures of the car & look sad that you cannot drive your rebuilt baby.

thats crazy. technically, as a collector of antique vehichles, back fees are waived. Not sure if thats just when you are first registering it when you buy it, but I've helped a lot of back fees get waived (we used to know someone that worked at DMV and gave me the specific wording and page numbers of the DMV manual)

Yes according to DMV site when purchasing a vehicle suspension fees are waived. I also just found out if it were not non-op I could just pay on line. Again because of the non-op it has to mailed in.

I might see if I can get off work early and just go by dmv and say here is my prob what can you do to help me out.

hahaha ok that was pretty funny. thanks

you cant get a 1 day move permit if its in suspesion. if its just non-op, then yes but the suspesion trumps everything.
