|
|
Hello everybody. I saw an ad someone selling the famous Corgi Vroom & Dreesmann but in two colors! I only find pics on the internet showing this diecast in grey but this one is in two tones. I find anything about this one on the net. The vendor claims he received this car in his childhood (he's born in 1958) and never repainted it. As for him the colors are Original. Someone could tell me more about this? The Vroom & Dreesmann is quite rare and since I find anything about the model in this colour combination this might be interesting (if it's not repainted). Difficult to see on the pics... Thanks for your help

Sorry, but that toy is repainted, (note crude brush marks) and the license plate is crudely hand painted , the factory spray stenciled them on all Corgi toys.
The Vroom & Dreesmann 433 Corgi's were all painted that medium grey color and were offered in two different versions, one with a yellow interior (RHD steering wheel) this is the more common version and a rarer version with a red interior (LHD steering wheel), these made ca. 1963 and 64 only for the Dutch department store, they were sold with/in the normal Corgi #433 boxes.
That toy is still of an original, I would say if it is cheap, then buy it, (under $40).

Here's one of my latest finds and my only diecast Karmann Ghia toy.....
a 98.9% original paint Marklin #2081 Karmann Ghia coupe, I think one of the best designed/best looking vintage Karmann Ghia toys.
Enjoy!

Here's on of my latest acquisitions.........from an ex DOD school teacher's estate sale.
A very early first series #1046 Micro Racer from 1958, made by Schuco Toy Company of Nuremberg, Germany.
Like new condition, in medium blue with original wind-up key and Reproduction box.
You can tell the first series Schuco #1046 by the die-casting with no blinkers on the front fenders and unique license plate light, clear plastic windows, a thinner gear seen in the baseplate clockwork and grey rubber tires.
This toy was produced in this form from ca. 1958 to 1964.
in 1965 it was replaced by a second series, in which the die-casting had blinkers in the front fenders and also a wider casted license plate light, yellow colored plastic windows, a thicker gear seen in the baseplate clockwork and black rubber tires.
That second version was made until Schuco went bankrupt around 1974.....
Enjoy,

Hi there,
I'm a new member from Germany and mainly interested in pre-70 VW and Porsche toys. I started collecting and restoring VW toys in the late 80's. Uploaded a very small part of my collection (just for exercise):

I have a 71 411, and have searched and searched for a toy model for years. Does anyone have a suggestion or perhaps has one for sale. Bob |

There were not a lot of 411 models made, and all of them were made in Germany.
The most common vintage model was made by Cursor, and was the VW factory promotional model.
They turn up in The Samba classifieds from time to time. Expect to pay around $60 to $80. And of course there's eBay, as BoB mentioned.
Paul's Model Art also produces a very nice modern model of the 411. You should be able to find one by doing a Google search.

Found a Budgie 204 today at a local antique store. They also had a dinky 181 in grey with blue wheels, a dinky red ghia, and a corgi semi truck/trailer vehicle transporter.

You might have trouble finding a set because those toys are pretty uncommon, but the hubcaps are ugly anyway. They look like they're off a '71 Impala. Try looking for a set from a Taiyo or Bandai bug. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Hello! New member of the forum here. A little about me, I guess I was a collector of Volkswagen toys (preferably bugs) when I was a little kid with my little brother. From swap meets to collector toy stores, I had a lot of them!
Anyway, I'd like to know more information about my Herbie R/C cars. I have 2 1:6 classic Herbies as well as 2 1:18 white Herbies (one for each of us!). I just looked them up and found that their price had skyrocketed!
As these toys were really enjoyed by us little kids, they've been damaged (eek). One 1:6 has its stickers peeled off poorly by my brother. As well as the antennas of the cars/remotes had been broken off and replaced by cables by my dad so they can still run. These factors obviously would bring down their value, but would they still be in high demand by collectors? Would they still be interested at a high price and seeking to restore?
I'm not sure whether this would work better as a reply or a new topic. Any help would be appreciated!
Pics will be uploaded as soon as I get those cars down from the attic! |

As the movie that produced those toys was just 10 years ago, you can't be much over 20.
The serious collectible Herbie items are the toys and merchandise from the original franchise films, circa 1969-1980. If items from the 2005 tribute film have skyrocketed in value, that's news to many collectors.
There are still enough of the R/C cars in circulation that you should be able to find affordable donors to scavenge parts from for your heirlooms, or upgrade to mint examples. eBay is your best bet, and you can also search the toy classifieds here on The Samba. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Thank you so much! The only ones I've seen on the bay are NIB that are going for around 500. I'll look into that. |

Are they going for $500, or are people asking that price and getting no takers? Check completed auctions for what items are actually selling for. Also remember, anything that gets sold at auction is being purchased by the single individual in the world willing to pay the highest price, which is not necessarily indicative of fair market value. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.
