Found a set of Audi wheels, I've seen them on 2WD, would they be good for my Syncro? Bore the centres, lug bolts/nuts spacers from T3tech and thinking bridges
All terrain tires 215/65/16.
Wheel size 16x7 et45 I think? Need to confirm from seller. Thanks

For use on a Syncro, you can run a set of adapters that will allow you to simply bolt the wheels on without the need to bore the centers of the wheels. All you would need is the adapters and the new lug nuts. The front center caps would fit fine, but the rears would not fit. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

For 2WD, is it safe to say if the offset is ET45 or greater on an Audi wheel that adapters could be used without opening the center bore?
I know there's differences with wheel widths and diameters to take into consideration, but I'm thinking most applications are going to be 16, 17 and 18 inch diameters with 7, 7.5 and 8 inch widths. So there's plenty of differences there, but I'm trying to figure out if it could be a general rule of thumb that an Audi wheel that's ET45 or higher could be used with adapters of appropriate width to bring the offset to as close to ET30 without the need to bore the centers out?
There's a lot more Audi wheels on the local craigslist here so this info would help me figure out if that's the direction I want to go in. Thanks! _________________ 1995 Eurovan Camper 5SPD

If you look at the dimension of the 2wd front hub a grease cap, you can see that with adapters or spacers, you would still need to do some machining.

Does anyone have any experience with Action Crash Replica Wheels from PartsGeek.com? I'm looking for some 17" AMG Monoblocks for my '91, but they seem to be pretty difficult to come by. Are these replicas worth it/ safe?

The offset on those wheels is pretty high and you may run into clearance problems because of it. If you try to mount them without spacers, you will need to have the centerbore opened up. However, if you add spacers, the wheels will fit better, you will eliminate all possibilities of clearance issues and you would not have to open up the centerbore. If you add spacers, you will also need to change the wheel studs front and rear. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

Thanks again Chris, I'm going towards steels to compansate on the weight compare the alloys, as for the adapters..front wheel should be tucked flushed by the front fender well?

I have put those stock Mercedes wheels on a couple vans. 5 x 112mm, ET37
I am using 215/65/16 XL tires. No spacers, slight clearancing of upper arms for 2wd.
Mine are drilled and countersunk so stock lugs and nuts fit.

Did you install lift springs? I had the GoWesty 1.5" lift spring kit installed with the ball-joint spacers.
I also just took delivery of a set of Geolander 215/65-16s. Will be mounting them on a set of 1999 CLK 320 wheels (ET-37). The wheels have already had the lug holes enlarged, but need to be checked to see if they've been machined for non-MBZ lug bolts (?)
I have some 7mm billet spacers if necessary, but will test-fit the wheels to see if I'll need them before ordering longer bolts and studs. _________________ Mark S.,

Yep, that will work! Those wheels also are meant to use the small ball seat lugs. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

What caps are these? Looks like they are one piece including lug area. |
Those are GoWesty center caps... I never thought about using those on my CLKs... GENIUS!
I saw someone using some genuine VW center caps on CLKs at Syncrofest, I think they're from a Toureg but not certain...

Does anyone have a bead on those VW (not the GW) centercaps? |

The most common of those wheels 16x7.5 ET41 from Mercedes, but there were several aftermarket versions in a variety of sizes. There is a similar looking wheel from Mercedes, but it had six D-shaped holes instead of five and came in a 15x6.5 ET44.
I'm not sure about the aftermarket versions, but almost all of the Mercedes wheels have great caliper clearance. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

Christopher,
Can I get your input on these wheel specs for a 2002 EuroVan?
Rim Diameter 16 inches
Rim Width 7 inches
Bolt Pattern (Number of Holes) 10
Bolt Pattern (Pitch Circle Diameter) 112 millimeters
Offset 42 millimeters
Backspace 5.75 inches
Bore Diameter 72.62 millimeters
I think the offset is ok and obviously i would need center bore spacers, but I don't pretend to know everything about wheel fitment on this van.
Do you happen to sell the center bore spacers for this fitment?
Thanks! |

Those should be a direct bolt-on as long as you use the correct lugs to match both the proper length and the proper lug seat style.
I do not sell hubcentric rings, but you can find them on ebay or maybe even call your local tire/wheel store. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

I bought these very spontaneously, but got them at an incredible price.
16x7 ET37 off of a Mercedes C230
I know I'll need rear studs and spacers both front and back, especially since I would like to keep the center caps. I just don't know what length of studs I need or the size of spacers. Once I have this info, I can place my order with you, Chris.
Oh, and I know I'll need to drill out the holes, but I already have the bit so thanks for that!

I don't know anyone who has tried them, but just judging from the specs, they would poke out quite a bit. And of the ones that I have seen, center cap fitment would be a challenge _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)
