You would think that they would have leaned a lesson from the Porsche disaster a cpl yrs ago.

A whole bunch of them being transported together were destroyed.

The insurance company paid top dollar for those cars and at least two have been re-built and the rest went for parts. Something about that whole incident seemed wrong. The Porsche community seems to think that it was an insurance scam because everything was hushed up soon after it happened. Confused

for a second my heart stopped. but then i saw it was not one of mine. i would prefer they drive these cars all over rather than put them on display in a museum. let everyone see them. maybe it was just payback for vw sueing everyone for using trade mark infringement?

1. how did you get those photos?
2. I gotta say this before someone else does : THAT'LL BUFF OUT Cool Cool
3. in reality though, it would be hard work but they could fix those cars, IMO they would be more "real" that way...

Did I miss something? How is it that the "last beetle" has wide-fives?

they should just put them back in the museum just like they are and make a plaque telling everyone what happened. the cars are still the same cars, just in a different shape. they still hold the same historical significance only now they have a new chapter to add to the story.

It was the last Beetle built on the Volkswagen South Africa production line in 1978. They still had wide fives there.

I hope that VWSA has learnt that if you do let them out more than one at a time, don't transport them all together. This would have been much less of a loss had the cars been spread over three smaller transporters.

Bingo.

are you kidding?

how about "if they had been DRIVING them this wouldn't have happened."
Take it off the trailer and drive it dammit!

Damn, you beat me to it. Yes, the world is better off with that development. Too bad about the other early bug though. The other one was a fat chick; I think it looks better that way.

I can't make the description of the accident match that damage. A car carrier overturning wouldn't cause that level of trauma unless it did it multiple times (like rolling down a mountain) would it?

That's a ton of force to crush those roofs that completely.

Some of those cars look like that got run-over by a monster truck or tank. Confused
