My humble 1600DP from my '72 Super. Correct oil bath air filter, DVDA, so stock except for the degree pulley, the Mexican Bocar 34 PICT-3 carb rather the the German solex, and the alternator rather than generator.
Since I took this picture, I replaced the DVDA w/a different one and connected the intake manifold vacuum to the air filter. _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

Didn't '73 T4's have duel Solex carbs?

No, only the '68 1700 T4's had carbs. Dual solex 34 pdsit carbs. All later models had fuel injection, at least for the American market. Europe may have been different. I know some of the T4 engines in European 914's came with solex 40 pdsit carbs when all American 914's had FI.
T4 engines used in busses retained carburetion in a slightly modified form through the '74 model year. They still had solex 34 pdsit carbs, but a central idle circuit was used to feed the idle mixture to both manifolds. '75 was the first year for FI on those engines. Speaking of a '75 bus...

My April of '59 Beetle with a December of '59 engine. Wrong coil (Brazilian), home-made vacuum line for dizzy (still searching for the proper one) and I'm not for sure if my generator should be a thin slot or not - mine isn't. I'm sure there's still a few things I'm missing but I've always wanted a 36 hp and now I have one! _________________ 1959 Fjord Blue Volkswagen Beetle

59s are not thin slot generators. |
Thanks Everett. The reason I didn't know was because my generator has "remanufactured" stamped onto the top of it. And also because the PO just slapped whatever would fit onto it on it. I'm glad to hear I've got the correct one _________________ 1959 Fjord Blue Volkswagen Beetle
