when idling or at low speeds my car is popping and backfiring quite a bit. I just put new plugs and wires, dist cap, rotor, and points on and i have a condenser i yet need to put on. could this be that my timing is off. any advice would be helpful. thanks
i have a bosch 009 distrubutor by the way and dual weber 34s

| I always set timing after a points adjustment or change, and to my limited knowledge, this is nesessary. If you haven't already, I would replace the condenser, then set the timing. I always hear to make sure your ignition system is set up right and in time before trying to diagnose running problems. Dave |

| It could be the idle circuit in your carbs. If they get dirty they screw with the amt of fuel going through the idle circuit and cause it to start popping and snapping through the exhaust at idle, then when you hit the gas it goes away cause the carbs are using the main circuit. Try pulling out the idle jets on your carbs and clean them out, carb cleaner works best. after that you might want to replace your fuel filter. |
