Would just like to pick somebody's brain about the the top seal on early piano hinge cab door tops. The one between the very top of the frame and the body, im not sure but from the bits i have left it doesnt look like they are the same as later door top seals.
Where or who supplies these or is there anything else simular i could use or are they the same as later ones?
cheers for any help

Must be someone on here that has replaced these seals?
Just to clarify ,they mount at the back of the frame as apposed to down the centre.
I just assume they are different, maybe, i dont know.

Do you have a photo of the area you are talking about? |

Sorry about the pic, there is not much left now this was taken a while back. You are looking at it from the inside of the door top here. The seal has just one channel (marked badly in red)i think that holds it all the way round on the inside.
Its not fancy in design or anything,
Hope this helps

The seal is the same profile of an early beetle hood or decklid seal. The original bus ones had moulded corners, but I think you could make the beetle seals work. |

Any year beetle mark! That channel that the rubber sits in is the one thing that never changed through the whole production life of the bug _________________

Cheers Scotty,
Do you mean an easy to get part that is cheap and fits a Bd, surely not.
You must be mistaken
I will obtain one and post up how it goes.
Thanks again

Yeah, any year would work... That profile never changed. I was thinking you could use this one,
http://wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=113823731A
and the two forward pieces would work for each frame. But I'm not sure of the lengths and it would be close. Maybe you'd be better off with two engine lid seals. I'm just using Wolfsburg West for reference.

I had a piano door top on one side of my old 55 for some reason, used the beetle bonnet seal on it worked fine.
