The originals looked like these (although there could have been variations in the years):
The crank is held in by the two screws visible on top and the screw that holds the arm to the bar which is riveted to the glass pane holders. You should be able to remove those three screws and pull the crank out but will need to push the crank arm out of the hole it sits in on the bar I mentioned. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

srfndoc, Thanks for your response.
Maybe I'm just being thick.
This is a picture of the working end of the mechanism extended.
In this picture it shows the pinned pivot point and 1 of the pressed pivot points. The long arm is attached to the glass pane holder.
Where is this 3rd screw? |

The 3rd screw goes in to the hole at the very end of the arm (you can see the threads in the hole). I've circled the area in this photo:

Does anyone know the exact size of the screws that go all around the perimeter of the windows and holds them in? I want to order several boxes of stainless screws to replace my old rusty ones and also for my friends bus and don't wish to error. |

I worked with Vintage Trailer Supply to begin reproducing the jalousie glass holders and they just shipped me the first set to verify everything fits as it should:

Huge props to Vintage Trailer Supply for putting up the funds to get these manufactured and available again. |
Just to make sure I order the correct one, can you post the part number and/or direct web link? |

The reason for the relight? I simply wanted it to pop back into my daily scanning, as I face some rebuilding this summer. Also, if there is new info to be shared. _________________

So, I've had the jalousie's in my bus for several years now.
I've camped in light rain, but recently I was on a trip where it rained CATS AND DOGS.
I have a few windows (all three on the right side) that leak.
They don't leak super bad or anything but they definitely weap at the top of the frame.
I've isolated the leak to where the window assembly itself mounts to the spacer ring.
I've got them sealed with Mortite rope caulk right now.
I just pulled the window out to remedy my leaky window situation and noticed that the spacers now have dimples where the screws go in.
I'm wondering if the rope caulk not giving very much is causing my the soft aluminum in the spacers to distort, leaving voids between the two pieces and allowing water in.
I can beat the dimples down to where they are flat again, but I'm not sure about how I should be sealing them now?
Is regular caulk a better choice (as opposed to Mortite)? _________________ "Saying what we think gives us a wider conversational range than saying what we know."

Is it possible for you to post some pictures? It's hard to picture what you're describing. |

I'll try to get some pictures that show what I'm talking about.
Basically it seems like the Mortite (which I think is the same thing as dum dum) is not compressing enough between the window frame and the inner spacer piece (that's screwed into the body of the bus).
When the window is screwed in (the screws you can see from the outside of the bus) it is pulling the aluminum and creating a dimple. These dimples being there shows that the inner spacer piece is not sitting flat with the window frame, at least the metal is not sitting flush.
Easy question.
Do you guys use Mortite for rope caulk (a la dum dum) or do you use something else? _________________ "Saying what we think gives us a wider conversational range than saying what we know."

How much dum dum are you using? I use one "rope" on the outside of the body where the spacer goes and then two "ropes" on the outside edge of the outside frame as seen here:

I don't remember actually.
I do know what when I installed it, I installed it on the window frame, and not on the spacer piece (like you did).
I'll try it your way.
By the way, is the brand of dum dum you're using called Mortite? _________________ "Saying what we think gives us a wider conversational range than saying what we know."

srfndoc, can you post a photo of how you placed the dum dum (if you have one) of the corners on outside edge of the outside frame.
It doesn't look like there's enough room for two ropes. _________________ "Saying what we think gives us a wider conversational range than saying what we know."
