Can the fan shroud be removed with the engine in the car?

Would think it weakens the body and the only furhter access it would give you is to pull the fan shroud, if the hole is big enough. Maybe real good for the person who has problems getting his oil cooler seals right.

Good heavens, just pull the engine! Takes 30 minutes and a floor jack.
