Snow, electric problems, lights, stutters... any ideas?

A quick diagnosis for your intake boot- get the engine running and as warm as it gets, then spray a little starting fluid around the boot. If there's a leak, the vacuum will suck the ether in and the engine will rev a little.
The thermostat and cooling flaps are a totally seperate system from the flaps that control cabin air. The cooling flaps are inside the fan housing, at the bottom, toward the front of the car. If you could look back through the firewall, you would see the bar on the outside of the housing, with the actual flaps inside.

The flaps that control cabin air are in the tops of the heaterboxes (see the little cranks where the cable would attach?)

I don't see any reason that tape wouldn't work, as long as you get a good seal. Silicone would too.

I taped it last night with some foil ducting tape, rated for hot or cold. Seems to run a lot better now. Thank for all the ideas, I will keep on posting as I continue to work on the problem.
