The issue is, in Ontario they dump TONS of salt on the roads to melt the ice. Aircooled Beetles don't stand a chance with that. One winter and your heater channels and floorpans are gone.

Not true.....
I live in NY and my friend bought a Bug for his first car when he was 16 we immediately replaced the heater channels and floor. He drove it all the time and it wasn't until 8 years later that rust started to form. We had the areas sand blasted, patched up a few tiny holes in the floors and channels , then finally realized we should have undercoated it. We separated the body from the pan (few inches) painted the channels up with bedliner; put the body back and then undercoated the rest of the pan with the same stuff, then bolted it back together then coated the bolts. Never a problem again.
Ohhh and on the advice of a restoration mechanic, we drilled drain holes in the pan and put in drain tubes that were used in a Porsche headlight buckets.

It's a 1.4 (1351cc) fuel injected Alfa Romeo engine from a 1992 Alfa Romeo 33.
It's got about 90 hp.

See my webpage for the build "blog": www.gerrelt.nl

I just realised I don't have much pictures of the engine compartment with the engine in it... Must update it..
Here's one with the old exhaust:

I absolutely love this car and conversion concept. I visited your site for this build. Liked the car .. Wish you had a build thread here.

Anyway .. I don't want to hijack this thread but you should make a thread somewhere about this car where people can respond and ask questions. I love the Idea of a conversion with that engine and I have so many questions about your car. and i am sure others do as-well.

Thanks! Cool I am quite busy at the moment, but I might put a thread about my car in the Late models / Super beetle part of the forum. I just have to find the time.. Currently I am fixing an bad head gasket, which started to leak badly on my holiday. 350 kilometers from home... Laughing
Here is a dutch-english google translate travel log from a dutch beetle website.

That car belongs to Pete from somewhere up north. Perhaps Canada. There are more pics over on germanlook.net. Mine is orange as well, great color. Check my avatar.

Well I must have driven my Beetle wrong in the winter then. Because it fucking rusted. Quickly.

Car looks great Joel, good example of how you don't need extreme exterior changes to have a nice German looker
