Hope you all approve!

Just got my frame back from powdercoating and
have most of it assembled. I narrowed the beam
3.5 inches and used 2.5 inch CB spindles and
avis adjusters. Tires and wheels will be replaced
with Gas Burners most likely. _________________ Strive for perfection in everything. Take the best that exist and make it better. If it doesn't exist, create it. Accept nothing nearly right or good enough."

Here's the pan I've been working on for my CMC Speedster replica. The pan was shortened and supplied to the original owner buy a California based shop. It was never detailed and needed some welding work, grinding, paint, and assembly. All parts (cosmetic and mechanical) were stripped, prepped, and painted with POR15 then top-coated with BLACKCOTE made by the POR15 people. This includes all the braking parts as well. We cleaned and polished the tranny and replaced all rubber parts with urethane.

Any helpful hints for polishing the tranny, I'm in the middle of doing that now? Any particular tools, or did you do it by hand? |
This is how we did it:
First I scraped all the crud then pressure washed the tranny with hot water and petroleum-based degreaser.
Then I got my wife (It's supposed to be her car) to get busy with the brass coated wire wheel on the drill...
Even the dog got into it.
I bought three or four sizes of wire brush to get in all the nooks and crannies.
My wife got bored so I finished the polishing with a fine wire brush and a dremel tool to get into the smallest spots, then I masked off the tranny to paint the axles.
Then I sprayed the steel parts.
That's the best way we could revive this old tranny... In time we'll probably have one built with stronger gears and fully paint detail it. Until then, this will suffice... _________________ Check out my video series at www.youtube.com/midnightoilgarage
