not really unless its a convertible or really rusted through the heater channels.
If its a vert.....we usually weld a rod towards the top of the doors in the jams.
That usual will keep it from flexing. good luck.

could you be more specific about the bracing required to firm up the vert body for removal?

I've taken several non-vert bodies off the pan over the years. I never had a problem with structural integrity and re-alignment. I'll have to say; the bodies I've worked with never had major amounts of rust. There was some rust in the pillars and wells. However, a body would have to be REAL rusty to twist and remain in that position. Are you replacing heater channels?

yes, heater channels are bad. i have heard it is best to do this repair before removing the body. is this true? also do you brace the vert body at all before removal?

This should give you some ideas for heater channels:

Ditto on the Bug Me Video. It's extremely helpful and may save you a ton of headaches.

Last conv. body off we did, we removed the doors and built an X type frame that bolted across the door opening to the hinge connectors and the striker plates. Then rolled the car under the overhead electric hoist , used our sling for lifting and carefully lifed bit by bit. Did our cleaning, cutting and welding and all was great. I know most people don't have the space and overhead hoist..I'm just fortunate to have a shop big enough to handle about twenty at a time. The door frames are simple to build, get a few big pals to lift the body...and cover it up if you have to leave it outside, do the pan and swap places.
