I bought a rebuilt steering box from CIP and I am not happy with it... I've adjusted it almost all the way in and still have excessive play in the wheel. And before you ask, the tie rod ends, ball joints, and dampener have all been replaced, along with a wheel alighnment. What is weird is that the excess play is only when the wheel is turned to the left. Center and right turns have acceptable play.
For under $50, I guess you get what you pay for... Oh, and it's a TRW box! |

I emailed CIP about the steering box last night. I'm hoping to hear back from them today. I told them I didn't have any confidence in their rebuilt boxes and that a refund/credit would be preferred, unless they could guarantee a proper steering box. The problem will be being without the box while the old one is sent back and until the new one is received...
Someone in the classifieds section is selling a new "Varga" brand steering box. Has anyone heard of this brand? |

I had the same problem with the CIP box, It's crap. I sent them some hate mail. Anyway, I've installed several of the "Varga" boxes with very good results and do recommend them. _________________ --- The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.
