not in yet, but it is completely buttoned up and awaiting a buddy to come help this old broken guy get it off the stand and onto my motorcycle lift. From there, it is super easy to slide into place. No more balancing on the floor jack!

I need to repaint from the trim line up... Since I can't match what is there, I am looking at a two-tone look. John Jaranson waved his wonderwand and came up with this... I like it!

I came home and added oil to the purple car. Started it up check everything over to make sure it was okay, and found oil gushing out from underneath the engine! Jacked up the back, crawled under, and found one of my brand new oil lines had split. Got out the bucket, took off the old line and lost some oil, put the new line and clamps on, fired it back up. It seems to be ok, i still have to adjust the idle, add the seats, and then go for a test drive.

Everything, less one carb spring is done. Test drive will be this evening. Only one tiny little oil spot was on the driveway this morning and that was probably residual from the gusher yesterday.

Time to put the air/fuel meter back on the car to see if I'm running lean. My header seems way too hot and I can only think it is too lean.

I just added the LM-1 back to the system and will see if I'm suddenly running from rich to lean. I just have to wait for the new gaskets to set.

I am more confused now. With the AFM installed, my 900 rpm idle is at 13.9- 14.3. At 1800 rpm w/o load it is at 12.6. So at least at idle it isn't lean.

I will drive it tomorrow and see what is happening under load.

No bueno. Did a full tune up, still have extremely hot pipes on 2 & 4. Can't find intake leaks, valves not tight, jets are clear.

If this engine is truely in need of a full redo, I am going to go way from VW power. If I can save what is there, then it will still be a VW in every aspect.

We shall see Twisted Evil Wait, you will see Cool

Everett, can you get me a Cool emoticon with a red/white cane added?

Well, you're the "guy"started the "Dark Side", so IF you feel you need to go even deeper, then so be it. Twisted Evil
Have you figured out where you're going to put the radiator? How are you going to plumb it? Inline? Or Boxster? VR6?
See, you're already getting questions asked. Shocked

I heard it's going Mercedes Diesel, but I swear I'll never tell anyone.

I spent almost an hour behind a M/B diesel yesterday trying to get through PDX. My head hurt from the noise.
