From what I've read so far- it may be too restrictive for my application, it may be louder than I want, and it may fill the car up with exhaust and snuff out the girlfriend. On the other side I figure it may work better than the stock beetle exhaust I have now, it looks pretty, and it isn't in the way of a valve adjustment. It also exits through the rear bumper which I've made a priority for this little project. It's been around long enough that some of you must be able to weigh in on it. Lets hear it.

The motor I'm considering it for is one that I've had the parts for for two years and am just now finally get around to putting together. The Thing should roll out of the garage with it this spring, so long as I maintain momentum. Of course I've talked about it enough lately that I really can't stop now.

Web 119 cam (very, very mild)
Stage 3 heads from Aircooled.net (35x32, ported)
Dual kadrons

Thanks

I haven't used one, but if you look at the pics, the pipes on the exhaust are definitely larger than the 1 3/8" J-tubes, and the exhaust exits through the bumper, so I doubt it'll be coming into the cabin. Unless you stop really fast. Wink

Just a wise-ass reference.

The original post on these at which someone at the end mentions it being loud. Also it is suggested that it is a modified Tri-Mil Euro 2-tip, of which I haven't talked to anyone that has run one, but searching various threads here it is called restrictive time and again by people suggesting a merged header, which of course would be better from a pure performance standpoint, but I'm fine not going that route if this will flow well enough for me and not be too crazy loud.

I had to stop searching to catch a couple past episodes of Zena, well worth it in my opinion. Research a bit more on the Tri-Mil tomorrow perhaps.

Zena?! Hmmm...

Anyway, this exhaust comes from "Tri-Mill" which is now owned by AC industries.

AC part number 310230.

Shouldn't be too restrictive for your engine. I would have to thing is gonna' be noisy and as it's a "Glass pack" design muffler it's just gonna keep getting louder, as the fiberglass fill blows out.
I like to modify the "GT" style muffler to work with the "Thing" bumper, takes a bit of cutting and welding, but nothing your local exhaust shop couldn't handle. Or PM me I could do one up for ya!

Well didn't make it back as soon as I'd hoped to but Acetone Jack seems to have me squared away. Thanks.

No, seriously, Uber I'll probably have you make me one up in the reasonably near future. I've currently got three builds going, (two for me and one just to sell locally mainly to clear out the garage,) hardwood flooring coming in, work starts again soon and I've got to spend a few more weeks at the cabin before that happens, but sometime before the snow melts I'll need to throw on a muffler. So "reasonably near." Thanks.
