Cool! I like it better with the black tires , but looks nice also with the walls. |

Even if the knobs were the tulip shaped Ghia knobs, it wouldn't really matter . . . there's simply NOTHING as charming as the Pre-A dash. If I could figure out a clean way to do it, I'd graft my spare '55 dash into my '65SC ! !
I just love the look and style.

Some pictures of my 1955 Continental along the Belgian coast.
The car is pretty much unrestored except for one repaint a long time ago.
Part of the Atlantic wall, not all German creations are pretty...
Someone painted the front seats black and the back seats white, the original gray is still visible underneath in some spots, any tips on removing the paint are welcome...

If there is a small area where it won't show, try some cigarette lighter fluid on a soft rag, it should take the paint off without touching the vinyl/leather I've used it on any number of surfaces and it's terrific. Even removes paint from plexi or styrene without harming the plexi/plastic.
Luck,
TC
Oh . . . let's see some interior shots. GOTTA see your dashboard layout ! ! ! !
And those knobs between/above/below the small gauges, what are they for? I used to think that the large one was for the wiper motor cable pull, and was gonna use it for that, but now I'm not at all sure.
Thanks ! ! ! ! |

Thx for the tip, I'll give it a try.
Some pictures of the dashboard.
The upper pull switch operates the lights.
The bottom pull switch operates the wipers.
I'm not sure if the third switch has it's original function, according to a 1954 workshop manual it's a fuel gauge button, but on my car it turns on the 2 front turn signals in the up position and flashes the 2 front turn signals when you press it down.
The right pull button is the fast idle (cold start)
The left push button is the starter
The cigar lighter and ash tray

Sorry I couldn't help TC, but that just helped me too
Mine are all in the same spot and the knobs are the same except for the choke cable knob (mine is definitely wrong).
You are right about the fuel gauge button, its meant to be a pneumatic pump that looks like this ....

My 52 coupe uses an extra dash switch for interior light and another one for instrument lights. how do you operate this on the 55 model?
[/img]
53 still has the instrument lights switch between the gauges , but no interior light switch because is a cabrio.

My '54 has a radio blanking plate with a leather cover that has PORSCHE embossed across. It looks nothing like this one. |

Rollo, the interior light in my '55 has the switch on the light itself above the rear view mirror.
Also the instrument lights just function from the headlight switch with the intensity adjusted by twisting the headlight switch knob. |
