Yes, I knew about the Petri Rometsch, but not the other Rare VDM Petri.
I just saw 1 of the Rare VDM wheels sell for $1800, at a Buy it now price on Ebay. Makes me wonder now!
With all the stuff (parts, accessories) being reproduced, you have to be careful and inquire when purchasing or bidding on some hard to find, rare, expensive accessories. _________________ Single Cab, Swapmeet Mafia$ |

It would be interesting to see the differences between an original and a repop. _________________ ( ⫏ ⫐ )

Wish they'd fit the later ones too- that Rometsch wheel would look bitchin' in my '66 T34 Ghia vert. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I just saw a Romestch style wheel in Michigan in a museum display. Only thing is, I don't think Romestch made that wheel for them selves. The wheel I saw had a Audi horn push and was original to the wheel. _________________ Yeah I like Herbie AND New Beetles. Got a problem with it? Tough.

Change the colume. |
It's a type 3 Ghia. The ignition is in the column, and the column is longer. No can do. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

If you can cut the roof off a T34, you could make a colume trust me. _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

anything can be machined to work. if you want to make it work, I can point you towards a machinist who can make it happen. he made a '52 bus wheel fit into my '61 and look right with the later style turn signal switch. _________________ .

Kind of sucks to the people that owns the originals. The VDM's has always been on of my fav wheels.
If I was to reproduce rare accessories like these, I'd make it my own style (IE: a VDM influenced wheel, not a VDM repro). This way the the originals stays unique, but also the new items are unique as well. Win-win situation IMO. |

An original is still an original, IMHO. It's great for someone who just wants the look. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

It's sad for the people that the con artrists who will sell them as OG, but I think that they are needed for some people who can't afford the real deal, or to wait until a real ones comes up for sale.

But sometimes you just need a certain repro part to finish a real one, like a horn button? _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

No......I don't buy repo.......I just wondered how much of the cost was in making the button. The OG buttons I have seen do not use N,S,E,W for directions but rather the European letters. It seems like a very fair price for button and wheel. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |
