hey,
so we have also an early bay and have many problems to find the right Repair metall parts.Klokkerholm(Dogley, battery tray, side panel) parts are very bad and there are no other companys they produced metal parts for the early bay in good quality. So because we had this problem we start to manufacturing our own Repair Parts like this
this is the sheet metal for the seat belt in the dogleg area.
You can buy this Sheet metal from a other Company but then it is not the quality like our one.We take NOS partsfor sample to produce this repair part
For more infos ask me [email protected]
We have many other projects like Outtriggers or battery tray in NOS quality but they need time to finish it for the market

Here are some pictures of the Genuine VW Doglegs we carry compared to the Danish one:
Here's a link to our classified ad where we talk about it some more: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=778901
The difference in quality is amazing - the Genuine VW one weighs 9.75lbs, while the Danish one weighs 6.25lbs. You can see the quality difference clearly enough I don't even have to note which one is the Genuine VW item. _________________ 1971 Bus

So, that VW dogleg has a diagonal plate attached the other doesn't. as We removed our original, there was no soch apendage. IS that a newer version, or was the old one just disolved away? _________________ The Bus came by and I got on, that's where it all began! |

Correct - the photo doesn't show the diagonal reinforcement very well, but it is there, as it is supposed to be. Yours has likely rotted away. _________________ 1971 Bus

I used those doglegs on my bus. I ended up having to cut that plate off cause it was hitting the bottom of the floor and would not let it go into place. Took it off and it slipped in like butta. I did have to do some tweeking to it to get it right but it fit real well once in place. I'm so glad I paid the extra for them instead of waiting for the cheaper ones. _________________ Check out my Westy resto. thread.

I have a complete cut up 68 bus from Arizona coming in in pieces as we speak...we are making the complete front floor die right now, we have a "cherry" complete front nose section, we have a very nice cargo floor, we are waiting for the doglegs, and outer rockers.....etc....
right now we can offer, the front floor, the cargo floor, the rear corners, and in about a week, the rockers, inners and outers...and battery trays.....we already do the truck gates, and bed floors....let me know what you guys need, and we'll let you know what we can supply, thanks _________________ that's not patina, that's fucking rust man!!!!

yo, gerson!
i have an NOS early bay dogleg which i can send you. better than a cut up part. this is a genuine VW complete dogleg for 68-71. if you can use it, and take care of it, and get it back to me some day in the future in the same condition it's in when you get it, it's yours.
i also have a few other pieces of NOS bay metal, for instance both early bay and late bay battery trays, genuine VW. these should both be good ones for repro parts since they are often one of the first parts to rust, even on dry buses. _________________ scott lyons

| I think I could have made a better dogleg than that danish one in the dark with just a hammer. |

That is probably how they made that one. _________________ Check out my Westy resto. thread.

I'm going to try some of the parts from OEVeedub, perhaps I'll have better luck with them than the Klokkerholm stuff I've been getting form BD and CIP1.
Some people have managed to get VW panels. Does anyone have a list of sources for those panels? I'm willing to spend extra on the part if I can spend less time jacking the part in, and wind up with a better repair afterwards.
I'm looking for Passenger Battery tray, Pass inner and outer step. |

i will punch a nun in the face if you come through with this i am sick and tired of spending hours to 'make' a repair panel 'fit', so much so, i had a friend in new mexico cut out dog legs & floors so i could match up all the correct seams etc. the klokkerholm stuff is a joke (a bad one at that) but is really the only stuff out there
do it Gearson |

I hate to sound like a broken record, but Klokerholm isn't the only option out there - we carry as much genuine VW stuff as we can get, and it is (obviously) much, much better quality and available right now from us. _________________ 1971 Bus

That's great and all, but everything you have that's genuine VW doesn't do anything for people owning early bays.
Gerson, that's awesome you're getting to making bay stuff now, just be aware that there are several different floor stampings, so that '68 floor you're getting is only going to work for '68s and '69s. Just get a full front floor made up and brought to CTS and i'll give it a test fit for you |
