According to this it SOLD:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volkswagen-Beetle-Classic-...ars_Trucks
The winning bid was probably the seller himself when he saw it wasn't going to sell for 22.5K??? _________________ Officer: License and registration please.

looks too wide like the brake pedal from a autostick car |
Looks like someone added to it from another pedal. _________________ Dad's 4/55 Oval

I remember in the late 1980's when a stash of these were found in Germany....(like over 200 of them, mint boxed) selling then for $250, which back then was stupid money!)
But, $6,000? ~ Hahahahahahaha Nah, let's face it, he just mistyped an extra 0 right? *wink*

This burns me. Whoever is in charge of the listing should be beaten with a stick.

3/4 of the way down the photo showing the engine and rear apron reads:
"Rear apron looks to have been changed at some point."
No??? Really? What gave you that idea? |
My main concern would be the welded VIN area on the pan.
Is a broker liable for being part in selling a vehicle that later comes up stolen?
IMO its more of a "sum of the parts" deal and since there are only cheap parts on the car its not worth much. |
Conflict of interest?
On one hand they play ignorant car advertiser who doesn’t want to put off potential buyers by stating:
‘rear apron looks to have been changed’ rather than ‘rear apron has been changed’
And then conveniently omits noting the big plate covering the VIN numbers.
Yet on the other hand they have this also on their site:
Oldbug.com Appraisals and pre-purchase Inspections / Advice
Have you seen a VW for sale on another website or locally and want some input
from someone who knows what they are looking at?
We can help!
For a small fee we will review an advertisement online, and call the seller to ask the questions
that should be asked so that you can rest easier with your decision to buy or walk away.
A service that could save you thousands of dollars!! |

I don't think this is delusional at all. Do you know how much it costs to build a nice car? Add up the costs of restoring a car, new everything, from paint to seals, drivetrain, etc. Quality interior upholstery, square weave carpet... Adds up to a lot, quickly! Plus the time and effort to assemble it all without f'ing up the paint.
That's a nice car and will certainly sell in my opinion. The drivetrain sounds pretty wicked and expensive to build. _________________ 1957 Beetle

Its because it's the rare version that "still has the original padding on the bottom to deaden road noise"... |
Someone should tell him, the padding is on the top, but that might raise the price... |

For that price it better be the first 1954 made PERIOD... I don't see it... I'd expect that much money for a 1944 not a 1954! _________________ Signed by the rather insane, ambitious, and very stubborn Darko |
