I picked up this 61 bug over the weekend. I could not pass it up! This thing is og pan and motor. Pan has no rust and the heater channels are very nice aside from a very small spot on the passenger side. Only one coat of cheap paint over the original. The worst of the rust is on the outside of the car on the door bottoms. Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.Image may have been reduced in size. The interior is my favorite part. Very cool!

And how about the battery! Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks og and also looks like it has never been disconnected! The og jack is there as well. The car has 133.000 miles on it and the motor turns free and is full of oil. It should run with very little work. The front got crunched and the owner stopped driving it. This car is pretty much complete and og except for 2 of the wheels are wrong. I have 2 og wheels and one og tire.

I found this can of car paste in the trunk. Pretty cool!

Sucks about the front end damage, but it looks like a fun driver. Smile

Some things I noticed:

You're missing the heat risers. Don't know why someone would cut those off.

The front bumper supports look like they have paint on them the same color as the body, which looks like paint overspray, as if that area of the body had been repainted. Or is that just the picture?

The semicircular part of the horn ring was cut off.

But it looks very original. I especially like that original interior. Good luck with it.

Cool! You have some work ahead of you but it looks like a nice project. The turquoise steering wheel is original, I believe. During the early '60s some cars got color coordinated steering wheels. You can always sell that old Simoniz can to Cracker Barrell for some extra $ Laughing
