Hi all.. Just picked up a 1962 Notch in Northern Canada. Its all there and like most Canadian cars, needs some floor work and body work but the car is very solid. The engine turns but I have not tried to start it yet. Its red with the salt and pepper interior.
As of right now, I am looking for a passenger rear fender, floors and interior seat cover replacement.
It has 52,000mi and from what I can see, its the original drivetrain.
I am new to posting and I am trying to load pics.
Thanks for all the other great posts of all your rides. Cant wait to start mine. Please forward any leads or links for the above parts that I am looking for.
I am located just outside of Toronto Canada.

It's better to call and speak with Alex or Anthony. The shipping calculator on the website can be a bit off sometimes. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

I'm in Québec, and I get all my parts from isp west shipped to champlain/NY (freeport fowarding)
I then drive there and pay the Tax to import the parts myself, you save a ton of money doing it that way.
Maybe theres a place like that in your area, there usualy close to the border. _________________ 68 Perugruen Notchback |

I either ship to the border or ship USPS to my home, Never UPS or FedEx across the border.
get used to shopping the classifieds on the samba or ISP West, there isn't much other support for the type 3 community in north america.
Post some more pictures
I wouldn't try to run that motor after it's been sitting that long without going through it and checking it out. There are probably mice nests under the tins clogging it up. _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/jim_martin_engine_build.php

Thanks everyone. There is a place in Buffalo NY that I can ship to.
I am not doing anything to the motor until I can really go through it. It turns over by hand which was a surprise to me.
I am trying to post more pictures. |

For floors, I'd contact Gerson (maker of the "funky green panels"), as he's the only one doing full length pan halfs. You can get pan sections from ISP West though, if you're not needing full length pieces.
The classifieds are a good place to look for other bits that you need. I'd contact Joel (Boo-Koo-Z) for parts as well, as he's got a pretty decent inventory of type 3 parts, and has been a big help to many here in the forum.
Go thru the 1500 club sticky at the top of the forum page for info on seat covers and or material, as it's being reproduced. Gizmo Bob is the contact guy I believe, as he's the one who got SMS to reproduce the materials in the correct grains and patterns.
Good luck with your project, and post up some pics (we like pics). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Awesome thanks. I will contact you for sure.
I am having problems adding pics. I have a Mac and all files are to large or corrupt when I try and load them. Still working at it. |

Fortunately, you have some of the harder to find engine parts still on the engine. The oil breather without the air cleaner port and the air cleaner with the plastic plug are two of them.
Let me know when you need anything.
Most cameras and phones take photos that are too large. Reduce them by 40-50% and then they should upload. |

Please remember that it has not been on the road since 1984 and in a small crappy garage after that. Never owned a type 3 before. I can't wait to start into it. No rot under the windows or at the bottom of the doors. Rockers and right rear fender seem to be the worst.
Thanks for everyone's kind words and I will try and keep up the posts of any progress. The Canadian winter is starting and my garage is not heated. I am just trying to stock pile my parts to start and be easy on the bank account. |

The pictures are good.
Which right rear wheel did you wind up with? In one photo, you've got what appears to be a Beetle wheel.
Car looks complete but a little rough.
The interior will look pretty nice with a little elbow grease. |

I have the original wheels. They still have the bias ply tires and I just put a set of beetle wheels with good tires for it to roll. |
