Shoot for the moon I guess, lol. $100k would seem more reasonable, but still steep for any bug in my opinion. |

True, I'd go look at it if I had a decent amount of money to offer him, he's only an hour away from me. |

He does state "willing to sell for pennies on the dollar of what it cost to build!!!" So what does it cost to build? $100K? then maybe he'll take $10K? That's a dime………. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

Once it's painted you'll never know. I know many split beetles that have this kind of hood and are said to have an original hood. The only way you would ever know is to deconstruct it. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

True, anything can be hidden, at least he was honest about it. I don't keep up on split parts prices, is that a fair price for a modified hood? |

Seeing it's my hood, I think its a fair price for the work that went into it. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

The trim holes on the hood are different between the hoods that have the hood crest and those that don't.
Since it appears that this hood does not have the hood crest, the trim holes would have to be filled and the correct pattern drilled. _________________ It all works on paper.

Is it just me or does it look like the bell housing area sat in a pool of water for the last 50 years? _________________ 53 Canadian standard oval

It could be a 25hp replacement case, made until at least the early 60's. (I know, because I have one too) If so, it would have all the latest 36hp upgrades, (internal case webbing reinforcements, improved oil galleries, etc.) but the cylinder bores in the case would be sized to 25 hp cylinders......it would be helpful if the vendor had laid a metric scale across a cylinder bore to confirm the smaller diameter. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"

It looks to me like the business end of this handle is too short. What do you guys think?
If it is too short, it's for a Gogomobile, not a VW. _________________
