Not even cleaned up and straightened for that price! Wink
So if they're February 53, they'd not be right for my Zwitter... or most! So maybe remove the Oct. 52 from the ad and call it early oval?

Very much so a cliche, but I really, really, really think this guy must have added an extra 0 to the price.

you'd think if one of these was had at $125, that would be a pretty good deal.

Yes, that is the way the way I read his comment and I agree that $125 would be a good price for a "finger" rear engine tin with the crank flap.

Hard to imagine anyone needing this for a repair:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1691038

IMO, the main purpose for this part is to FAKE a KDF.

Beware: This handle is for a Gogomobile and will not fit a VW:

I know of at least one car that would need that exact part. In Germany, there were "lots" of splits converted to newer windows, even pre47 splits Wink.

Yes, lots. Back in the days.
But how many of them are still around?
How many splits with a upgraded big window in need of that very part are still around? 3? Or 5?
To me not enough to press such a part.
The risk of abuse of it to fake cars is quite high.

Thats true, not many arround anymore! On the other Hand, if you buy a pre 46, there are so many other things you can verify the year of the body, can't you?

There are other details, but the pressing between the windows was one that the counterfeiters usually wouldn't do due to the work. Or they didn't know.
That part will be used more often to fake a KDF than it will be to fix a castrated pre 46 split.

...why not making some good replica 16" wheels instead of this? Laughing how big is the market for that part and how big is it for some nice 16"?

Isn't this what you throw away when you buy NOS for the same price?

Too funny. These switches were used into the 60s in cable brake cars in some markets. These in this ad don't even have L number part numbers on them. But I guess if you put "split" in the description, it makes them worth 10x.....
